The book published on the fourteenth of March. A Tuesday. Clara had chosen Tuesday deliberately — the publication day that gave the most runway for reviews and word-of-mouth to develop before the weekend, when the majority of book-buying happened. Anya had not been involved in this decision and had no opinion about it and was happy to defer to the expertise of people who understood the mechanics of how books moved in the world. She woke early.

The sound of the coffee shop two streets over that she could sometimes hear if the window were open, which it was, because April had decided to be warm this week without warning. She wrote, 'He asked on a Tuesday.' The Tuesday was not special. That's the point. The most real things happen on ordinary Tuesdays in kitchens that belong to both of you. She stopped. She looked at what she'd written. She thought about all the ordinary Tuesdays. The problem sets and the Proxima dashboards and the morning tea and the coffee from two streets over and the physics notes and the research questions and the pasta and the wine and the Edinburgh evenings going on and on in summer, light until ten.

What was her niece thinking? Elsa’s worried frown shifted to a look of hope and she quickly scurried back into the house. Her mother had presented an ancient book of sacred spells and incantations to her just before her passing. She was certain the solution would be within the pages of that book. She’d never really taken the time to look through the book in its entirety. She had enough resources for the work that she was called upon to do, so she didn’t need the book for that. Since time was a precious commodity and something that she’d prefer to spend away from the world of the occult, she’d tucked the book away for safe keeping. she said. I waited for the joke. She didn’t offer one. Behind her, a draft touched my cheek with a chill that smelled like lavender and old paper. The bell over the door didn’t ring, but I heard the faintest sound of a chair scooting somewhere near Poetry. No one was sitting there. No one visible, anyway. “Shelves are fine,” I said, because denial has teeth. “Shelves move.” “On Tuesdays,” Mr. O’Rourke said mildly, stepping out beside his wife. “Today is Wednesday.”

The ordinary two hundred and fourteen: the people who had been using the temporary location and transferred their habit to the permanent building, the curious who had seen the announcement, the ones who had come without particular purpose because the library was on their route and it was open and they went in. Daniel knew the number because the library director had told him at three o'clock with the quiet satisfaction of someone who understood that two hundred and fourteen on a Tuesday was not a soft launch — it was the actual world, the real library in its real place, the ordinary attendance that would now repeat every Tuesday for the years ahead. He and Miriam had stayed through the day.

So as it stands, update days will be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays/ Sundays, if I can do more then I will, but until the end of May this is how it will be unless I can get the other book finished earlier. Em It was Thursday, and time for her meeting with Mara again. Em had hoped the snow would continue the other night but it didn’t. At least she got to look at it for a while. She had all the pictures of the deer to remind her at least. Christmas was only about three weeks away.. and they only had a week of school left after this one until they were out for the holidays. She was happy to not have to go to school every day and continually try to avoid Quinn… but she was worried that she wouldn’t stay busy enough and her mind would start to wander to that dark place.
