, he paused. “So, I’m narrating and the both of you are cuddling”, he said jokingly and everyone looked at Bruno and Enola and they separated from each other. ‘As I was saying’, he continued, “So, Omek observed a secret. He noticed that the goddess had something called heart of the river, it looked like a small staff. Without that staff, the goddess would turn to water and the water would overflow. He didn’t know about this issue because when he asked the goddess, the goddess lied that without the staff, she turns to human and the sacrificed victims regains their freedom.

The swirling, convulsing maelstrom of fire obeyed him in totality and surged swiftly upward like a tornado made from pure, fiery energy.

Her wings fell back into her body, screaming. Covering my mouth, a sob wrecked through me. I had forgotten she would feel the pain, too. Too worried about watching Mortus breathe his last breaths. The warrior, his eyes solemn with pity, gently gathered her in his arms, picked her up. Her head leaned into his chest, gripping his uniform. “Leave me,” she cried again. Wings sprung forth from his body, shaking his head. His wings hummed in the pattern of a hummingbird and took flight to the palace.

Wyatt immediately covered my eyes for me, “He wants you to touch him Brianna, so don’t be scared of him, you can feel his wings and anything else you see fit.” I could feel a whoosh of warm air around us and a loud, piercing, squawking sound as Wyatt dropped his hands. The boy's sense of awe rippled through me as my eyes took in the Phoenix, temporarily covered in flames before it quickly snuffed the flames out and left a breathtaking bird in its place.

I can see the faint outline of what looks like wings spread behind her. Wings of fire that seem to take the shape of a heart… A piercing scream rips through the air as her power increases tenfold and surges into the sky, emanating in waves around her. I see the swirls of the flames behind her move before I see a tiny part of her left wing snap and shrivel into embers of ash. It’s too blinding to look at, and I’m forced to avert my gaze.

"You’re the one who whispered to me in the dark when the Council was carving into my bones. You’re the 'Extinction' they were so afraid of." The figure—the Red-Winged Dante—stepped into the light. It was a perfect, terrifying blend of us. It had Dante’s lethal, massive frame and his predator’s stance, but from its spine erupted a pair of wings that were an exact, burning replica of mine. They weren't made of "Void-Lead" or "Obsidian-Gold." They were made of Primal Fire, a deep, arterial red that seemed to drink the light from the room.

I use all the strength I have to push is harder, hotter and faster. The creatures as the back try and head to the vines to try get through to avoid the flames. The air witches use air to push them back and into the flames. Oh crap the fire witches are starting to weaken and can't keep this pace much longer. We would not make it. SHIT "Air witches lend your powers to the fire." Annabelle shouts

When they emerged, a pair of fire wings appeared on the fire lizards' backs. "Ho? Using fire to become wings like that? But... Shadow step, killing dagger strike!" with its swift movements, the two daggers directly cut off the heads of every fire lizard that approached it. Not only was Xiao Fang's move fast but the lizards were unable to sense his aura of life while using the shadow step.

It growled low in the direction of the sound, its tone carrying a faint trace of reverence: "That firebird has arrived." Before the words had faded, a massive fiery red figure swooped up from the darkness like a meteor. Its wings spread wide, each feather burning like a blazing flame, radiating suffocating heat. Its tail feathers were as resplendent as a phoenix's rebirth, trailing a long tail of fire through the air, illuminating the dim hall as if it were broad daylight. One of the Four Mythical Beasts, Phoenix!

Excited chatter was all around us. “COME FORTH, TYPHON!” A loud whoosh sound was heard, as if someone had tossed gasoline onto the fire. In the middle of the pit floating above the flame was a man on fire. Huge wings were spread out to his sides. His handsome features were breathtaking. This must be Typhon. Oohs and aahs were sounding all around me. Excited dragons moved closer to the pit trying to catch a better look at the dragon god.
