Caitlin entered through the gates and continued on, all the way to the top of the mountain. When she reached the top, there was a broad plateau, and a wide courtyard with a magnificent, arched castle gate. She walked towards it, and before that gate stood a single vampire, dressed in an all-white robe, a white hood covering his face, so she could not get a good look at him. She approached slowly, and as she did, the vampire pulled back its hood, and looked at her. It was a woman, with long blonde hair and glowing blue eyes. She smiled back at Caitlin.

Maybe the same witchy wards keeping her trapped in the city? These vampires seemed to have some powerful people in their pockets. Did that mean she couldn’t trust the witches? Had they picked a side? “You seem to be doing quite a lot of thinking there.” She nearly jumped out of her skin when Aidan appeared beside her. Out of thin air! “What the hell?!” she screamed, heart slamming against her chest. She had been surprised too many times in the past few days. Being in vampire territory was making her weak. “Sorry,” Aidan said, grinning like he wasn’t sorry at all.

Sharon stated. Carlo was Sharon’s boyfriend, and they lived together like a couple. Twilight couldn't go back to her old apartment—she knew he would find her. A knock interrupted their conversation. Sharon rose from the bed and went to open the door while Twilight shifted her focus back to her studies. “I need to see Twilight.” Twilight froze at the familiar deep voice. Oh God. “Twilight?” Sharon flashed her a teasing smile. “A handsome man is here looking for you.” Twilight bit her lip, taking a deep breath before standing and approaching the door.

“Is that it? You don’t feel any emotion towards the characters? Their struggles, the conflict—“ “That doesn’t seem like a conflict at all. It could be solved if the female agreed to be turned because that’s what vampires do. The author just dragged the conflict just so Twilight can be called a series.” Elaine was speechless. She did not dare utter any single word. “If I were Edgar—” “Edward.” I sighed. “If I were Edward, would you allow me to turn you into a blood-draining creature of the dark?” “Hell yeah!” Elaine beamed. “They are immortal and cool and—” “They are not cool,” I declared. “And they are not immortal. You just have to plunge a silver knife in their heart and cut off their head

EDINA POV It’s hard to tell when it’s day or night in the Twilight Court—always hovering somewhere in between, caught in that breathless moment before the sun tips too far or the stars take full command. But when the air cools just enough to sink into your bones and the wind whispers like it’s trying not to wake something—that’s how you know it’s evening. I shift in the satin sheets, stretching slowly. A weight anchors me. Rhaenan’s arm draped across my waist.

“Put your finger out.” I do as he says, and I wait for the burn to come, but it doesn’t. I close my eyes to numb any pain if it comes. I slowly open my eyes to see why I didn't burn. My finger is glittering. I’m blown away. “I’m like Edward right now,” I say, grinning, thinking about the Twilight books. The author did an excellent job in a lot of things regarding the supernatural. I walk out of the cave, still masking my scent, and bathe my body under the sun.

“He’s clearly got you on drugs or something.” “That’s ridiculous. I’m completely sober.” “Are you, Camille? I should give you a test or something.” He checked out the other books. More vampire romance? Where were the werewolves? He saw none. “Wrong,” Dire grumbled. Don’t worry. We’ll get her proper books. Maddox browsed more of the vampire books and realized that they all had the same author. Grace Moon. That was an interesting name.
