Mom had blocked her. Peggy's hand slowly dropped to her side. Through the glass, she looked at my body one last time. As she walked away, she kept turning back. I watched the only person who might've saved me walk away. The last spark of hope inside me disappeared with her. Back at the restaurant, Maya licked her ice cream spoon. "Mom, was that Peggy? What did she want?" Mom dabbed the corner of her mouth with her napkin, her gentle smile returning.

Eventually Elowen stopped before a small wooden table. One book rested upon it. Unlike the others, this one looked unfinished. Blank cover. Silver binding. No title. The library seemed quieter here. Waiting. Elowen touched the book gently. Then looked at us. "This one is special." Dangerous sentence. Hope immediately moved closer. Naturally. "What is it?" Elowen smiled. "A story still being written." Silence. The floating lanterns drifted overhead. Soft golden light danced across the blank cover. The book shimmered faintly.

His book was lying there, the pages fluttering in the breeze. He didn't need to write anymore. The story was told. Aradaa and Kaelor walked down the steps and toward the treeline. Their figures began to fade, merging with the light and the shadow of the trees. The Unified Network in the sky gave one last, golden pulse—a "Goodbye" that resonated through every leaf and every stone. The wind blew the pages of the "Book of the Two Kings" until it reached the very last leaf. The ink was dark, permanent, and simple. "We are no longer the code or the beast; we are the breath between the notes."

He ordered and stretched the book toward her. Taking the book, Nicole felt nothing. However, immediately after she opened the book, the writings on it started to glow. "They are glowing!!" Nicole said, gasping. "What? What is glowing?" Roman asked immediately. Looking into the book, he couldn't see anything at all. On the other hand, Nicole's mouth started to move and Roman stared intently at her. It turned out that it was not only the writings that were glowing, her eyes were glowing as well. What was happening was an unusual phenomenon.

“Put your finger out.” I do as he says, and I wait for the burn to come, but it doesn’t. I close my eyes to numb any pain if it comes. I slowly open my eyes to see why I didn't burn. My finger is glittering. I’m blown away. “I’m like Edward right now,” I say, grinning, thinking about the Twilight books. The author did an excellent job in a lot of things regarding the supernatural. I walk out of the cave, still masking my scent, and bathe my body under the sun.

As he walked away, I walked to the length of books across my wall, shelving the documents in folders I had Shareef organize before. The mirror on the wall caught my eye, and I looked away from the man, who stared back. A haze surrounded me in an ominous cloak of black and purple. Who am I to talk about cleanliness. I flicked a speck of dust. When my maimed soul is decaying to rot? I walked towards Shareef’s retreating body.

My eyes flicked up from the book in front of me to glare at the small window next to me, where there were two birds perched on a branch outside looking as if they were ready to take flight at any moment. The moon was shining brightly overhead, but the sky appeared cloudless. And not just that - when I looked down at the book I could see it glowing dimly with some kind of weird glow. There was no light reflecting off of it whatsoever. The glow looked almost magical, and my breath hitched in my throat. It felt almost like magic - maybe I was seeing things but what was worse my wolf growling and snarling inside of me , telling me that something was very, very wrong.

Chapter 27 ~ The Werewolf Realm ~ Alpha Levi's POV Micha and I went back into my room to continue reading. We were both too excited to stop. The story was becoming more mysterious with every page. Entering my room, we saw the book on the table, waiting for us like it had a mind of its own. The moment I approached, the book opened by itself and glowing golden letters floated up from the pages. Micha and I exchanged looks—half shocked, half thrilled.
