Twilight Ship Novels & Stories

Mar’s ship, the Sea wraith drifted in the distance, but they could not see anyone on board. Luz stopped at the edge of the dunes, the salt spray of the ocean stinging his face. he scanned the horizon, his crimson eyes narrowing as they cat through the twilight haze. The ship was there. A silhouette against the bruised sky, bobbing low in the swells. No lanterns. No movements on deck. He stepped closer to the water’s edge, the dark corruption marks on his neck pulsing faintly in the damp air. His hand went to the hilt of his blade, not in threat, but out of habit– a soldier’s reflex when facing a unknown variable. “The tide is turning,” he said, his voice carrying over the roar of the waves.

I stand on the high cliffside, my heart sinking as I count dozens of black-sailed war-ships closing in on our coastline. The vast expanse of the dark ocean below is choked with iron-clad vessels bearing the serpent insignia of Dawn Mercer's western syndicates, their towering masts slicing through the gray, turbulent sky like a forest of wicked blades.

"A fleet." CRACK. The sky above the Crimson Spire didn't just cloud over; it shattered. A massive, purple rift tore open the clouds, and from the void, a ship descended. It wasn't like the Prometheus. This ship was a cathedral of black iron and screaming souls, bristling with cannons that glowed with Void-light. It was the flagship of the Order of the Black Sun. "How rude," Valerius sighed, adjusting his silk cuffs. "I specifically ordered no solicitors."

The Warden scout ship was an atrocity of geometric design. It looked like a massive, floating guillotine, glowing with harsh, sterile white light. It ignored the Old Ones’ Crucible manifestations entirely, descending directly toward Manhattan with a single, horrifying purpose: sterilization. "Seventy-two hours, my ass," Ben swore, clutching his tablet. His vampire fangs elongated slightly in his stress. "They must have used a slipstream jump. The ship is charging a sub-orbital plasma array. Jack, if that thing fires, it won't just destroy the building. It will vaporize the entire island of Manhattan down to the bedrock."

Blake was not steering; the boat was automated, tracking the dinghy's heat signature. "They have us," Evelyn whispered, gripping the edge of the dinghy. The pilot pointed toward a massive, dark shape on the horizon—a looming presence in the pre-dawn gloom. "Not yet. That's the rendezvous." The rendezvous wasn't another speedboat; it was a large, nondescript cargo vessel, sitting low in the water, its identification lights deliberately dimmed. It looked like any of the thousands of freighters that crossed the Caribbean. It was the Shadow Fleet—Mia’s ultimate extraction plan, utilizing a network of maritime contacts secured by the vast resources Evelyn had provided.

This was her last gambit, using the child to bind herself to the Quinn family fortune. In my previous life, after my death and my parents’ fatal accident, Rosie used my name as a shield and swallowed the Quinn Corporation whole. Now that things had gotten to this point, it was no surprise she would resort to such tactics. Ironically, I had Tyler’s arrogance to thank for the damning evidence of their affair. Without his recklessness, I might never have gathered solid proof. Rosie continued her performance well into the night. When she realized her words were not getting through to me at all, her tone turned sharper and became tinged with anger.

Special craft, she had mentioned we are royal blooded. "Search her cabin!" Miradel shouted. "EL OBLIVION OBLIVIOUS OBLIVIMUM! burn their knowledge about my niece, FLARIOUM FLAMUS! Vanished this them all."

Johnny rolled his eyes, making no attempts to stop the witch as she stormed out of the kitchen. It had been several hours since Ursula made her discovery and since then, everyone had been flying around the place trying to slow down a mass shift. However, Johnny couldn't help but think they were too late. Now the wolven spirits had been given a chance to awaken, they would do what they could to stay awake. It was simply a case of natural survival instincts. But he followed orders and the orders were to slow down a mass shift until they all understood a bit more of what was happening.

The amount of money on that credit card was more than enough to fund all their needs. I wondered if Pamela thought she would be willed anything. After all, Freya knew nothing about her. Well, except for her face when she took her last breath. There was no reason for Pamela to be here. I kept my eyes on her nonetheless. I was still suspicious that she came of her own accord, but still, I was glad. Our plan would work perfectly. And then it got to my turn. Freya willed something to me; I was dumbfounded when the lawyer said I was willed two companies. RAD Corp and Tearang group, the same company I had tried to steal.

Relief flooded her, but almost immediately, the fiery heat in her body surged, overwhelming her. She slid down against the wall, her strength giving out, and pulled off her T-shirt in an attempt to cool down. Her breathing was heavy, and her pounding heartbeat echoed in her ears. Her entire body felt as though it were being devoured by ants, the sensation unbearable. She couldn’t stop the soft, stifled moans that escaped her lips. Suddenly, a sharp click pierced the air, and the lights flicked on. Tara’s vision blurred, her consciousness slipping away. Through her hazy gaze, she saw a tall, striking man walking toward her.
