I looked at the translator confused. “Sweetheart, you and Noora are leaps and bounds ahead of the professor especially given your age, and you are not in his shadow, you are both now his North Star.” The driver came with the car and as if on autopilot I got in. I was stunned, just stunned. I thought my ridiculous smile would forever be stuck on my face.

Katie asked wide eyed. "Yeah." Chloe nodded. "Well I saw five of them. They all looked scary and dangerous." "I heard some of the guards talking the other day," another girl called Penny spoke up. "Apparently they have a vampire with them." "I didn't sense one." Chloe replied, frowning softly. "I know I was drunk but they were definitely shifters and high ranking ones as well." "And what about you? Did the Alpha do anything to you?" Katie asked, her voice thick with worry.

I'm about to ask how much further, worried that Silvia is actually aslpee on her feet, when we finally come to a stop, Tidiane turns and grins. Apparently shapeshifters are very good landlords. It's not an apartment building anymore. It's a house. A very large house with three stories on the edge of the boundary between the Barren and Loop City (or whatever the new names for these places will be!)

They come rushing in and tio is taking temperatures and Damaro is telling me and Aiden to put them both in the bassinets. “They are shaking, abuelo!” I said, and I feel tears coming down. I feel terrified. I don’t know what is happening. “I know, nieta. I have a feeling they are trying to shift.” Abuelo said. “SHIFT?! They were just born!” Austin said and it’s clear he is worried too. ‘Nyx? Help me out. Do you know anything?’ ‘Not a thing. Though, Shadow Maws shift earlier that regular wolves and Aiden is an Alpha. Maybe that could be why this is happening?’ Nyx said and I heard the worry in her voice.

And then the newly made shadow shifters came out to play. I haven’t had a chance to warn my men about what Felicity said—that Quinton has made more shadow shifters. But they’ve chosen their shadow forms anyway, and as I slow to figure out who needs my help the most, the three of them barrel past me, trailing wispy shadows behind them.
