Two Voices Arguing In My Head Novels & Stories

A few meters away from the door, as I look around, I hear loud screaming that forces me to stop. I shake my head and turn towards the opposite direction, moving around the house, trying to see if I can have my way through the windows. I trace the voice, walking around until I am at the back of the building. That is where I hear the voice clearly. I hear a male and a female voice. Two people seem to be in a heated argument. They shout aloud. "Why the hell do you have to be so disrespectful?" Next comes the very sharp, powerful echo of a slap that makes me flinch.

That voice belonged to Sora. For a few seconds, I genuinely thought I had gone insane. I thought maybe I was still asleep and dreaming. Maybe my mind had finally become cruel enough to create things I missed so badly. But then I heard little paws running around frantically inside my head. Another loud bark followed immediately after. Then another. Then whining. Then yelping. And suddenly two voices started speaking over one another at once like complete chaos had erupted somewhere inside my mind. And I burst into tears.

And then I blinked, feeling stupid and childish for even arguing with him on something like this in the first place. “Of course you did,” he said, his voice calm, like he hadn’t just saved me from a professional stumble. “But two voices are better than one, right?” I wanted to argue, to tell him I didn’t need saving, but the words stuck in my throat. “You’re just being stupid,” I told myself internally, shaking my head as I sat down on the chair and turned to my laptop, trying to ignore him. And I thought that was working until I caught him watching me as we packed up for the day, his expression unreadable.

I had no will whatsoever, I had tried and that was the best I could do. “Is that really how weak minded you are? Is that really the best you can do.” The voice was low and distant, but I heard it clearly, as clear as day. Who is that? “You try only what, a few times, and you're giving up? I almost hate hate that I love inside of you.” The voice said again, putting me into a state of confusion. Living inside of me? Am I of two different personalities? “You're not of two personalities you lazy cow, I live inside your head, so don't be surprised I can hear your thoughts.”

I swear I didn’t want to care, but I have no control over my emotions. I stayed quiet, focused on my food, barely tasting a thing. Later, I was in the shower, getting ready for bed, when I heard raised voices. I turned off the water, heart racing. It was Brant and Rhett arguing—though I couldn’t make out the words. Their voices were muffled, like they were trying to keep the rest of us from hearing. They must have been blocking the sound, but the tension in their tones was unmistakable. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I knew—it was an argument. A heated one. And something deep inside me told me… it was about me.

He smiled at me, making me blush deeply. “We need to talk again, but I don’t really know where to start.” I looked down to the plate, feeling him scoot over to join me on the edge of the bed. “What’s wrong love?” He took a fork off of the plate, joining me in eating. “Well, first off; there seem to be a billion and one voices in my head that for the life of me I cannot get to shut up.” I winced again at the headache, talking really made it worse.

They were staging a protest. I felt a headache coming on. I just wanted silence. But still the voices in my head protested. I found myself sinking to the ground and trying to pierce my skin,to end it all but my nails weren't sharp enough to make me bleed out. I clenched my hair in my fists tightly. Eyes squeezed shut in agony. The voices in my head continued to protest. I jumped up from the bed looking for ways to silence them. The voices got louder and louder,I threw the bed against the cell gate,the gate rattling and just like that,the voices stopped and everywhere was silent, like I wanted.

"You're out of your mind! I already told you I don't agree with this!" Her scream echoed across the rooms, followed by the loud cry of my sister, "You're scary! I want my mommy back!" I was confused and felt my body tremble with their screams as they began to argue once again. My mind drifted as I crouched on the floor, facing the wall with my hands tightly covering my ears. My small ears could still hear them shouting, but I couldn't understand the reason why they were arguing.

Crow answers, and something cracks within my chest. The pressure of feeling judged crumples at his words, and a connection touches my heart. "I hope you win," a voice screams inside my head. I could be happy with him....but would he be happy with me?

“I shouldn't have bothered you.” “You aren't bothering me,” I plead with him. “It's just this stupid voice in my head. It won't leave me alone.” “You are hearing voices?” Osiris asks. The look on his face tells me that he is clearly concerned about me. “I am only hearing one voice,” I huff. “A very annoying voice.” “And you don't have a wolf?” Osiris asks with his eyebrows furrowed together. “Nope,” I sigh. “You think I am crazy, don't you?”
