"Ty, did you fucking do this!" Tyler rolls his eyes. "Stop getting all worked up! The maid will clean it up. I mean, what do you pay her for?" Trent points at the door furiously. "Leave!" Tyler cackles. "Are you... Are you kicking me out?" Yes, he is. He does it all the time to people like you. "I said leave!" He barks louder. Tyler sneers at him, then at me as he leaves. He crouched before their son, voice soft, turning the boy to himself. “Did you have a nice time with Mommy this morning?” “Yes,” Tobey said, though his voice grew smaller under his father’s attention. “That’s great,” Levi replied smoothly. “Sorry, Daddy couldn’t be there. Daddy will make it up to you, okay?” Tobey nodded carefully. Levi’s smile never reached his eyes. “So tell me… who’s Uncle Teddy?” Tobey glanced at Alicia, then back at his father. “We met Mommy’s old friend. His name is Uncle Teddy.”

I glanced sideways, smiling as my eyes landed on the boys trying to get my babies to talk again. "Read my lips Levi, say Daaaadaaaa," Tyler mouthed slowly to Levi but Levi only chuckled, grabbing his hair and pulling it. "Ahhhh!!" Tyler winced in pain. "I said call me Dada not to draw my hair," he muttered, successfully prying Levi's hands away from his hair. I covered my mouth, trying not to laugh out loud. He would be too embarrassed to find out that I was watching him. "You're not doing it right," Alec scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"Right, Daddy?" The word hung in the air for a second, soft and heavy with meaning. Leo had been calling Tyler 'Daddy' for a while now. It had started as a slip, a confusion of roles, but it had settled into a permanent truth. Charlie Vane might have provided the DNA, but Tyler was the one who held Leo’s hand during thunderstorms and taught him how to build Lego towers that didn't fall over. Tyler didn't miss a beat. He just ruffled Leo’s hair, his eyes softening in a way that made my chest ache. "That’s right, buddy. Ice powers. You’re the captain of the squad today."
