“You speak out of turn, girl!” Gryffen snarled.
“She speaks,” Makil’s voice cut like a blade, “with the authority of the royal envoy, and as the heir to the Mountain’s Voice. You will address her with respect, or you will leave this hall.”
The ultimatum hung in the firelit air. Gryffen was isolated. The other lords were now looking at him not as a champion, but as a man whose grievances were crumbling under the weight of history and harsh necessity.
