"Oops," I said smoothly, bending down to pick it up. "Must've knocked something over."
Brother Thomas smiled politely, clearly distracted by the noise. I seized the moment, slipping my hand under the desk again.
"Stay quiet," I whispered to Noami, "And keep going."
