“Remember, the magic expires at midnight, then it’s back to rags and pumpkins.”
Dante glared. “Scram.”
“Zero humour. As always,” Caleb muttered as he strolled off.
Dante walked forward, carrying Jo straight into what looked like empty air. The dome shimmered for a brief second, then vanished again.
When he set her down, Jo looked around, confused.
“What is this?”
“A dome,” Dante said.
Inside the invisible dome, there was no wind. No echo. Even the usual faint hum of nature dulled inside the barrier.
