It was scorching like a flame and if auras could be tasted, hers would definitely be bitter. I shuddered, walking over to the first aisle to check it out. The first book that caught my attention was Blood, Pawns and Obsession. It was a dark romance by Rylie Martin. I had one of my projects on hold because I wanted to read this book and get into the head of the psychotic male lead, so I would understand him better and be able to execute my plotline to my taste. The grin on my face unconsciously widened, and I brought the book to my nose, sniffing it in.

Andrew's returning smile made me blush. I tried my best to skate gracefully, making it almost full circle before stumbling over my own feet. I felt the pit of my stomach rise up into my throat as my hands flailed at the air and my legs slipped out from under me. But I never hit the ground. Andrew caught me before I fell, wrapping his arms around me and keeping me up when I was sure I was going to fall. As he held me, my legs slowly found their way back underneath me but my knees still felt like jelly. Even in the darkness, he was still the most attractive man I had ever known.

When his hands grasped the top of my thighs to pull me to him, he paused, his hand lingering and feeling the deep scars of a bear's claws. I felt my cheeks heat, most days I don’t think about my scars; that one or the faded ones left on me from my days in the dungeon of MacTire. Right now though, I felt self-conscious lying underneath him, baring my naked body. Would he hate them? Would he be repulsed by them? “Your scars are beautiful, They show just how strong you are.” He said as if reading my mind. Then he bent his head to kiss the ones on my thigh. Little sparks of lighting jolted through me again, making me quiver with need.
