Nothing seemed to be working. The worst part of all this was having to deal with the empty feeling in my chest. If I had to pick a word to describe how I was feeling I would say relieved and that's a hard pill to swallow because I feel like I should feel like a bad person for feeling that way, for knowing that all of my family will die at any second and all that I feel is relief but I don't feel bad about it, not even a little.

Although the outside shows obedience, deep inside is antagonism to the end. Doris saw Riffen's disdain for her and found it ridiculous in her heart.
