Unhinged Book Door Novels & Stories

My pulse quickened each time I passed a closed door, half-expecting someone to step out and catch me in my midnight excursion. The double doors loomed before me like the gates to some forbidden realm. Slowly, I pushed one open, wincing at the groan of the hinges. Peeking inside, I let out a sigh of relief when I saw it was empty. The dim moonlight streaming through the tall windows gave the room an ethereal glow, highlighting the towering bookshelves that seemed to stretch endlessly. Closing the door softly behind me, I moved deeper into the room. My fingers brushed against the spines of countless books as I walked along the shelves. Somewhere in here, there had to be a clue, a record, anyth

After dinner, Adam returned to the reading room. Meanwhile Jes returned to her bedroom. Adam's myriad of jobs are piling up, he must finish immediately if he is going to enjoy the weekend. But tonight's problem was not over the weekend, there was another matter which was very important and could not be left out. Adam opened a secret door in the reading room. A door with very sophisticated security. The door does not resemble a door like usual, at a glance anyone who enters the room will see that the door is like an ordinary bookshelf. Indeed, the door is in the form of a bookshelf to manipulate anyone who enters the room.

The book remained firmly in place, as if glued to the shelf. I pressed against it experimentally. To my surprise, a soft click sounded, and the entire bookshelf rotated smoothly on hidden hinges, revealing a hidden door set into the wall behind. My heart raced. A secret room? What could Edward possibly be hiding? My wolf stirred uneasily, sensing something important beyond that threshold. I stepped closer, reaching for the handle, my curiosity overriding my sense of propriety. Edward’s private matters were none of my business, but something about this hidden door pulled at me.

The moment the door shut behind him, I moved. Corwin didn't look up as I drifted toward the crooked shelf, murmuring something about wanting to see the older bindings while I waited, and he waved a distracted hand in my direction, too absorbed in his count to care. Behind the shelf was a second door, small and unmarked, its outline almost hidden beneath years of dust. I found the latch, old enough that it gave under a hard shove of my shoulder before I'd even fully committed to trying.

I search the room carefully, looking through shelves and drawers till I come across a candle stand sitting on the shelf. What's a candle stand doing on a bookshelf, with tons of books? Doesn't Killian worry about his books getting caught in fire? Unless…... I picked up the candle stand, and to my surprise, it only moved an inch, then a resounding click echoed in the room. I yelped, stumbling backwards when the shelf started moving. It shifts to the right, exposing a door behind it. So doors like these exist not only in movies? Curiosity got the better of me, so I twisted the doorknob and opened the door. It led to another room, well furnished and dimly lit.

Alexander stepped into the room right behind me and slammed the double doors shut, sliding a heavy brass security bolt into place. Outside, heavy footsteps were rapidly approaching the door. Someone began kicking violently against the thick wood, trying to break the lock. "Hurry, Chloe!" Alexander hissed, rushing over to the large bookshelf on the far wall. He pulled a hidden lever tucked behind a dark red book. With a low hydraulic hiss, the entire bookshelf slid open, revealing a thick steel door. Alexander typed a rapid six-digit code into the glowing numeric pad beside the steel frame. The heavy door unlocked with a loud metallic click.

AMBER I tilted my head, intrigued. He pressed a blue book’s spine, causing it to slide back like a button. The bookshelf rattled, revealing a concealed door. Ray turned the gold-plated doorknob twice in opposite directions, unlocking it with a click. The door creaked open. My jaw dropped as I peered inside—a vast library. “This is where we store our knowledge,” he explained as we stepped in. My footsteps echoed against the wooden panel walls as I counted the library’s floors. It had five floors, with the topmost floor veiled in darkness.

If this was a trap, better one of us fall than both. He'd argued. Of course he'd argued. But in the end, he understood. Some doors only open for one person. The bookstore was called "Between the Pages." A narrow storefront on a quiet street, windows fogged with salt air, a hand-painted sign creaking in the wind. I stood across the street for ten minutes, watching. Trying to see if this was real or another layer of the game. Then I crossed and pushed open the door. --- The bell above the door chimed softly.

She knew it the instant she pushed the front door open to her home. The door, the way it moved was wrong. She stared at the yellow door as it swung back to her. Her mother had been going on about painting the door for weeks now and just had finally done it. The door swung back open, creaking as it did. Her breath caught in her throat as she pushed herself. She stepped inside the dark house. Her house was always warm and comforting. It was cold and the chill gave her instant goosebumps. She could hear t

Those were good times. Pushing open the library door, I was enveloped by the familiar scents of paper and ink. The sleek, modern shelves, packed with books of every genre, rose majestically to the ceiling, creating a sea of literary treasures. Every book had been handpicked by me, each one a reflection of my eclectic tastes. I navigated the narrow aisles, my fingers trailing over the spines of the books until they paused in front of a shelf filled with classic novels. With a practiced motion, I pulled a row of books off a shelf, revealing a small, discreet panel. I pressed my thumb against the cool surface, and the panel slid open with a soft click releasing a whisper of secrets.
