Uncle Chet's face underwent a bizarre series of contortions, and Swan suddenly had the impression that he was trying with all his might not to burst out laughing. "Cousins …" Kit said in a feeble squeak. He cleared his throat and tried again. "Cousins can marry. Even first cousins." "It isn't that simple, Kit," Uncle Chet said. "I'm afraid there's much more to it than that. Marriage is out of the question."

I told him. It was true. I knew Asher and Kate were much closer to some of my other cousins than they were to me. I hardly saw them. I was close to our granddad though and aunt Charlotte and her kids. But growing up I was sometimes jealous that so much of my family was here, my uncle Damian, my aunt Lily, aunt Emma, all the cousins and I could barely see them. But now that I was older, I understood why. “Good luck with Kyra. I think she’d make an excellent Luna.” Uncle Osiris said.

All of a sudden, Titus asked brutally, “Who were you trying to avoid that you had to undergo plastic surgery? How did you offend those powerhouses?” Rebecca opened her mouth and said, “The Jones family is a bit complicated. I have a cousin who’s my uncle’s daughter. She’s very pretty, and many say that she looks like my aunt. She also bears a slight resemblance to Mom. Ever since I returned, Granny and Uncle have been treating me very well and trying their best to make it up to me. My cousin, whom they had been pampering earlier, was probably jealous and kept finding faults with me. Later… because her childhood sweetheart fell in love with me, our relationship turned sour.”

Ryan pauses, and I am stuck staring at Jude’s face. “Wha…What do you mean by that?” Jude stutters too? “Heavens.” Philemon sighs, dramatically. “You do not know what a cousin means? It means that his father had a brother that…” “I,” Jude begins with a shout, making me flinch, then he blinks and reduces his voice. “I know what cousin is. What I am asking is how can my messenger be… be your cousin? This doesn’t make sense.”

“I am all ears” Amanda tapped her fingers giddily on the table as she turned to look at Uncle Jojo, smiling widely at him. “We were so excited about this news and I wanted to be the one to break this news to you first” “Go on” “Well, I am glad to tell you that you now have a cousin” She grinned. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, not understanding what she was trying to say or what exactly she was driving at. “A cousin?” I repeated, glancing back and forth as if I was trying to put one and two together.

The young woman looked at me with hope. "Sure." I nodded. "Hello, I am Cassandra, Cassie for short and I am the only female cousin Dom has. Our fathers are brothers and he is my twin, Cassius." She smacked her identical twin who was engrossed in his phone. "Hey, sorry, I am Cassius, Dominic's cousin and brother of this shit face." He glared his sister. "Language, kids." The oldest woman among them glared at them. "Sorry Mama." They said still shooting daggers at each other.

“I don’t know what Lance has done but I know that look between you two.” Lance waves the four of them to come closer. The older sister is looking like she hates it here and the youngest is bopping with the beat and looks excited. The other is somewhere in between, I think. I sigh, running a hand through my hair. “Meet my cousins, from Cuba.” Winona’s eyes widen in surprise. “You’re kidding. This is them? Oh wow! It’s great to meet you all. I’m Winona, Jayden’s Fiancée.”

Just then, Uncle Luke came over with his wine glass in hand, wearing a magnanimous smile, and patted my other shoulder. "Noah, did you get the money? You're an educated man, working at a research institute. Respectable, stable. You don't need the extra cash. "Your cousin is different. He runs a physical business with high overhead and big expenses. He needs money everywhere. You're first cousins, and blood is thicker than water. Be understanding toward him." Aunt Louise also came over with an affectionate tone. "Exactly! Look at your cousin. He's lost so much weight from being busy this year. Your formula is good, sure, but without him managing everything inside and out, it wouldn't have tur

Spencer interrupted, "Hey, kid! She's not just any pretty lady. She's your cousin-in-law." Zane blinked his round eyes. Embracing the spirit of asking whenever unsure, he asked, "Pretty lady, what's 'cousin-in-law'? Is it food?" Spencer shamelessly replied, "Of course, it's food. But only I can eat it. Got it?" Zane nodded, still somewhat confused. Everyone present, including Lucille, was left speechless.
