As she neared her locker, she noticed a girl she hadn’t seen before. She stood tall, with dark hair that fell in soft waves over her shoulders. Her books were stacked neatly against her chest as she scanned the row of lockers, brow furrowing slightly like she was trying to match numbers. That’s when Harper appeared. “Well, well. Look who we have here.” Harper’s voice rang out, sweet but poisonous, her smirk spreading as she leaned lazily against the lockers. Her eyes flicked up and down the new girl with mock appraisal. “New girl. You’re in my way.”

At the sight of the figure, her mind flashed back to last night's affair with that man named Wyatt, and finally she remembered what a ridiculous thing she had done last night. "Oh my goodness ...." Harper held her head and sat back on the bed, unable to believe that she had walked into the wrong room and had sex with a strange man. Afraid of upsetting Elena, she had been a good girl since she was young, last night was her first indulgence and she didn't expect to get into such big trouble. The sound of water in the bathroom suddenly stopped at that moment. Nora tells me, and I pull out the notebook. Words and phrases are scribbled on the pages, all detailing several difficult puzzles that Harper noted are the access portals to the dark web. I flip through, growing more amazed with my mate, until another pit forms in my stomach. Harper did all of this to prove her innocence. If I’d just listened, we could have worked on this together. Instead, my smart and sweet mate is out there alone. I never should have put her in the position where she had to leave again.

See? This was such a beautifully yet tear-jerking novel I have ever successfully crafted an idea with, a few months ago. But after I have encountered all the horrible occurrences for the past months, I came back to work and turned this sad and romantic novel into a mystery and horror novel, which made all my work colleagues and supervisor absolutely petrified. They have no idea that I was even more shocked and horrified when I have suddenly realized that my novel had suddenly become so dark and twisted. It was beautifully written, like a psychopath has written a novel for the very first time.

Past servants who bowed and wolves who nodded and everyone who saw me as the Luna, the victor, the woman who had everything. I walked until I reached my chambers. My beautiful chambers, with their silk and gold and the lingering scent of roses. And then I stood in front of the mirror and looked at myself. Perfect hair. Perfect face. She rested her hands on the back of a chair, leaning forward slightly. “The moment he started flipping through those papers… my heart nearly stopped.” Aurora nodded. “Mine too. I couldn’t even breathe.” She looked up at Mrs. Harper, eyes still wide. “Thank God Lilith came in when she did.” Mrs. Harper let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. “Thank God,” she repeated. “If she hadn’t burst in like that—”

Zara’s POV The image of Elora collapsing on the floor gave me more satisfaction than I had anticipated. She had always put up a venomous and monstrous look like she could devour anyone at any time. But today, she was softened and stripped of her mask, releasing the ugliest weakness and vulnerability I had always wanted to see. Since I got back from New York, it was the second most rewarding scene I had witnessed. The first was Zane being dragged like a thief from the Wesley Group he prided in so much, just to be thrown in a cell.

But tonight, something had shifted. Elena Harper’s presence lingered in the room even after she had left for the evening. I hated the fact that my wolf, sealed for so long that I had almost stopped believing she existed, stirred at the worst possible time, in the worst place, with the worst possible man.
