He was older than Damien’s father, built like a tank gone to seed, gray beard, scars across his knuckles.
“Well,” he drawled, “the little human learned some tricks.”
I smiled, all teeth. “Not so human anymore.”
Behind me, Kira shifted too, staying by the door.
Rhys’s gaze flicked to the mating mark blazing on my neck and something ugly twisted his face.
“Victor’s whore thinks she can—”
I didn’t let him finish.
I lunged, half-shifted—claws out, fangs dropped—and slashed the phone in half. Sparks flew. Lisa’s scream cut off.
