Victor commanded. "I do not know much. Nobody does. He is a ghost. Former Russian intelligence. Built networks across Eastern Europe after the Soviet Union collapsed. Expanded into America through West Ark. Uses the Reyes family and other organizations as infrastructure while staying completely hidden." Carlos pulled out his own phone and showed Victor a photo. "This is the only picture anyone has of him. Taken maybe ten years ago. He could look completely different now."

That bastered had made an impact on the Vipers, and clearly Victor didn't do as much cleaning up as he thought he did the first time around after he got the Vipers and his city back. "I messed up." He had commented, and I will admit, it was brave of him to admit his mistake. "How did they manage to slip past you, Victor?" I'd asked, I furiated by what I was hearing. "That is why I said I messed up, Nicolo. I got rid of all of the top moneys who were supporting Eliot before and after he took the Vipers from me. I thought I got rid of all of them, but clearly, I was wrong. I still have those snakes living in my city, and I can't for the life of me figure out how many more there are. I've kille

CASSANDRA POV 1 YEAR LATER. "Why can't you send someone else?" I questioned my boss Mateo holding the phone up my ear. "Because you're the best assassin we have to kill this motherfucker, who has been causing trouble for us," Mateo said. "I don't give a fuck how you kill him, seduce him, shoot him in the dick, do what you have to get him" "Fine, so what's the guy's name, and what does he look like," I asked.

she whispered, her voice cracking as the report filled the room. "Famous singer Victor Thompson harassed a junior artist to give him a break in his new album. John Woods, a small-town man aspiring to be a Hollywood star, claims Victor Thompson demanded sexual favors in exchange for a break on his next album. Before his collaboration with Victor Thompson, Woods was happily married but filed for divorce three years ago, a move he now blames on Victor's alleged advances." The words seemed to stab the air with a shocking brutality. Victor’s entire body shook, his hands gripping the arms of the chair.

My heart cried for his incredible courage. The other man shook his hand and then came to sit beside me. "Hi, my name is Krispin Righteous and I am an alcoholic and a drug addict. I have been sober and drug free for eighteen months. On the worst day of my life, I physically hurt a woman. That was when I reached rock bottom and decided to climb out of the pit. I am a better man but I fight this disease daily."

He immediately stood and made his way to the CEO. “Sir,” he called as he approached. Tristan stopped walking and looked at him, slightly surprised. “I’m Victor,” he said. “The new product manager.” Mandy was already by Tristan’s side. Her expression showed her displeasure, but she forced a polite smile as Victor addressed her. “Miss Stone,” Victor said in a low voice, “you really made the right choice. It was a good thing you picked Miss Elodie Richards to present today. She’s… really, really good.”

“Viper. The president of Los Psychos, a rival Mexican club.” In her defense, upon hearing this information, Cricket did not freak out or head for the door. However, what she did do, may have been more disconcerting. She got quiet. Really quiet. After a few tense moments, I tried unsuccessfully to soften the blow. “I know this sounds bad, but—”

Alaric asked, keeping his tone flat. Victor didn't answer right away. He walked over to the windows, standing with his back turned and his hands crossed behind him. He looked out over the city skyline for a long moment before speaking again. "You know what about," Victor said softly, though the edge was still there. "Cassian. Thalassa. This wild storm you have created."

My sister, Kelly Sutton, was totally lovestruck. The night her longtime crush finally said yes, she begged me not to tell our parents about their date. She stayed out all night, and I covered for her. Kelly was so happy, I couldn't help being happy for her. Three months later, she jumped off the roof of our apartment building. Dad had a heart attack and died on the spot. Mom never smiled again. Eventually, she ended up in a psychiatric hospital. More than a decade later, after I became a cop, I dug up an old case that made my blood run cold. Kelly's crush, Calvin Tilley, was a psychopath who used love as bait to deliberately spread HIV, destroying young women's lives. That was why my

“What did you say was up with Victor? And didn't you two assault my fiancé together? Why are you suddenly on my side?” “Lyra, Victor fucked up.” I stood up. “Did you come all the way here to defend him?” “No, like, seriously. Christine was kidnapped by some psycho, Victor was already in a bad state. He didn't mean to get with her.” Funny as the psycho is his wife, huh? “But he did.” I said. “But he didn't mean to.” “Did he sleep with Christine?” “Maybe in that state, but since he's become sober—” “So he had sex with Christine?”
