The leather is so warm, like someone was sitting here some minutes ago. I heard footsteps in the hallway, coming down here, slow and measured. Victor appeared in the doorway. I just stared at him. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him with a soft click. Leaning back against it like he’s blocking the exit. Or maybe trapping himself in here with me.

I sense a little bitterness in his voice. “Lucky kids,” I murmur. “What happens next?” As I ask, I shift my weight forward and move to open the door. “Next,” Victor says, “I kidnap you.” I can’t help myself as I laugh a little at the absurdity of this. I shake my head, looking back at him – Alpha Victor Kensington, crouching in the tiny hiding spot where I used to come as a teenager to read books that my father forbid me to read, where I wrote love letters to my first secret boyfriend.

“Ah, Will, take Mr Gale to the surface before those fucking dragons start getting fire-happy. Thank you.” Will almost choked on his tongue. “Yes sir. I get it,” he added turning back to Aislen as Heath followed Will out into the busy operations room. “How having that ability could be a lot of fun.” “Not always fun,” she corrected him. “You wouldn’t believe the thoughts that some people have.”

He held the detonator higher, his thumb hovering just millimeters away from the red button. "One click," Victor said, his face lighting up with a terrifying, manic joy. "One little click, and your ride home becomes your funeral pyre."

Victor just shrugged a little. "It is only bad if you get in trouble." He moved the whiskey around in his glass. "The person is Alex Morgan ." It was quiet for a seconds. Then Chris said slowly. "Alex?" Victors smile got a little bigger. "Yes." He leaned forward a little. "I know you and Alex Morgan have a history." Chris's voice got a little angry. "What do you want me to do to Alex Morgan?" Victor's answer was easy. "Help me ruin Alex Morgan's life."
