“Oh, but you will. Because if you don’t… your mother dies. And everyone will finally know who runs that dirty little gossip blog. All your secrets… gone in one click.” My stomach dropped. He had everything. Victor stood up and walked closer, towering over me. “There’s a man I need you to get close to. His name is Ryder West. I want everything. His secrets. His weaknesses. Every dirty little thing you can find and deliver him….to me.” I stared at him, my voice shaking. “Who… who is this Ryder West?” And then, my eyes widened as I realized the exact man Victor was talking about. One of the guards shifted behind me, his boots scraping loudly against the dirty floor.

Conrad nodded and walked into the hotel without looking anywhere else. In the lobby, Victor had already drunk three glasses of water as if he was on fire. When he saw Conrad walking over, he slammed the glass on the table and looked at him with eyes that could spew fire. “Oh, are you that angry?” Conrad said as he sat opposite of him and threw the document over. “Read it.” Victor grabbed the document and simply slammed it on the table. He wasn't in the mood to read it.

“We’ll destroy it first. We’ll make sure he never gets his hands on it.” Vance laughed again. “You think you can stop Victor? You think you can stand in his way? He’s not like his brother, Liam. Kang Jin was greedy, yes. But he had weaknesses. He had family he cared about, people he loved. Victor has no weaknesses. He has no family, no friends, no mercy. He’s a realist. And he’s going to win. Because he’s willing to do whatever it takes.”

“You came.” Tears blurred her vision, but she didn’t move to him. Not yet. Because the shadows hadn’t stopped shifting. Victor stepped forward from the dark. Wearing white. Robes embroidered with ancient glyphs. Hair loose around his face. Eyes glowing that unnatural gold. “I knew you would,” he said softly. She didn’t flinch. Didn’t blink. Victor tilted his head. “You brought your rage. Good.” “I didn’t bring it,” Emilia said. “You gave it to me.”

A figure stepped out of the shadows, tall and impeccably dressed, with a smirk that made my skin crawl. “Thiago Bermudez,” the man drawled, his tone dripping with false charm. “And the infamous Bridgette Martinez. What a pleasure.” “Who are you?” Thiago’s posture was rigid, protective as he placed himself slightly in front of me. “Call me Victor,” the man said, his grin widening. “But I’m not here to play games. I have something you want.” Victor tossed a USB drive onto the ground. It landed between us with a soft clatter.

She tried again, harder this time, symbols flickering briefly over her skin as she poured more magic into it. Still nothing. The book remained stubbornly closed, silent and unimpressed. Jane exhaled sharply. “Okay. Rude.” A voice came from the doorway. “Give it here. Let me try.” I frowned slightly, my vision blurring for a second as I focused. Victor. I had not even realized he was there. Jane handed him the book without argument. Victor took it, his expression guarded, his power rolling just under the surface like restrained violence. He tried brute force first, then something more refined, energy pressing, probing.

“Any more, and it might shock his system. Keep him cool. No touching, no heat, no stimulation for at least twelve hours after.” I nodded, holding the bottle like it was made of glass. “Thank you. Really. Thank you so much.” I stood up, ready to leave. Victor stepped aside for once, for once not being difficult. But then, just as I reached the door, Valkar stopped me with, “One more thing, Selene. I would like to offer you a private reading.” I froze and my heart skipped a beat. Victor blinked, looking confused. “A reading? You never do readings. You refused when I asked you to read for my mother and sister.”

He said before leaning again. "No! Wait! Please don't hurt me. I promise I won't tell anybody about you being a vampire." I said assuring him. "I wish I could help it, baby. But it's too late now." Alexander said before biting my neck making me go numb for a second before my whole body shooter with unbearable pain. 'Ahhhhhhh!!!' I wailed in pain before everything went black. 'Jesus! Victoria, what was all that shouting for? Can't you for once consider me, the lady who practically lives in your head? I have never been soo disgraced by anybody in my whole life as much as you insult me.' Carla yelled in my mind.

After an unexpected miscarriage, I left my ward in search of Victor. I saw him inside the doctor’s office. Just as I was about to knock on the door, I overheard their conversation. “Give my wife a hysterectomy. I don’t need her to bear me any children.” Victor Gayes pulled the woman beside him to face the doctor, his hand rubbing her belly. “The baby inside her belly will be my only child. You must protect it no matter what.” I knew the woman very well. She was Victor’s secretary of three years, Rachel Aniston.

Alexander smirked as he stood and was now nose to nose with Vic. The dark confident man took his index finger and placed it firmly under her chin. “I want you Victoria Bura…although I have heard you prefer Vic. And then of course, there are those that call you the ghost.” he finished in an almost calm whisper. Vic’s pupils looked like they were almost breathing with the amount of blood being pumped through her body from the mixture of physical threat and unspoken truth.
