I swiftly rushed to one of the neighbors outside, a geeky stocky man, and pointed in their direction. “Sorry! Who are those people?” “Oh!” He adjusted the spectacles sitting on his nose. “Those are slaves! The least low-ranking omegas. The man there is leading them to quickly pass through the borders so they don’t get eaten by the beast,” “What?” My mouth flew open in surprise. I didn’t think there were still slaves in this era. I heard most packs have stopped the turning of omegas into slaves. Apparently, a few of such packs still have those horrible laws.

Viktor POV I didn’t know what to say as I sat next to the woman I named my slave. For the first time, I smiled at her. And I could tell she was shocked, but she never brought it up. “I would like it if you came back with me to my chambers,” I said out of nowhere. She didn’t even look at me as she replied. “Yes, Master.” She said. Her replies sometimes felt.. unnatural. Like she was just answering what she thought she wanted me to hear. But I guess that’s how slaves are supposed to be. With her though.. it bothered me.

I kept looking but there was nothing that was important and I was starting to get angry because I wanted to get rid of this connection with Antton so he can't keep manipulating me, but I wanted to do it without him noticing. I had discarded one as it looked more like a journal than a history book with information, I didn't even know I brought it with me, but I had nothing else to do so I decided to take a look at it, every time I read it catches my attention more because it has the about strange things like slaves. "When a draugrs takes a slave, it feeds on them for a while and when their blood no longer tastes sweet, it gets rid of them." I googled the synonym for "draugrs" it means vampire

Slave traders were not easy to find because they kept switching headquarters to avoid human authorities who called them trafficking rings. Slaves were also very expensive, so many of the small packs did not have slaves. Most people did not support the practice. However, the bigger packs did not care about public opinion. They bought slaves and used them for work and other things. Midnight Pack was one of those well known for buying and keeping wolves and humans as slaves. Two days later, I was in a minivan with four other women who were also getting sold as slaves. It was night time and our limbs were tied together so tightly that we could barely move.

That no matter what happened from here, they would live out lives full of suffering and neglect. I felt like I would vomit. I heaved a sick breath and looked away, listening to the mutters and the bids go on. I wanted to rescue them—each and every one of them. But did I have a right to think that way? They were all slaves. We were the same, by societal standards. I wasn’t more privileged than them, just more lucky. Each slave was bid upon, but none seemed all that popular. Vampires did not fight one another, bumping each slave higher and higher in price. They did not seem desperate, nor particularly keen of any of the slaves.

Even though Alexa and I didn't start on good terms, I wouldn't wish her father to be dead because he's the only parent that she has. I was an Alpha blood, and now I had to endured this again...being a slave, u rather be chopped into pieces instead of me to have to endure *living* like that.

How could the Frentin race allow such barbaric practices and claim it was okay? Brinto and Frith both appeared to relax as well, their shoulders lowering and Brinto exhaling. "Nicely volunteered of all of us, boss," Frith said as he stared at Brinto. "I got told I was responsible. I'm not losing my job or worse because someone tries to get his kicks out of Icaan's favourite slave of the moment."

When the second carriage began to board, Zikk's eyes scanned the group of naked men and women. Zikk's direction of gaze caught the merchant's attention. "Slaves. The Northern Army apprehended him. Although they are troubling beastmen, they make excellent slaves. Put them to work for you, and they won't whine. They have the intelligence of a six-year-old, those beastmen. The few intelligent bloodlines are the sole reason their empire is still standing strong. Zikk realized why the merchant described those slaves as being filthy. He could make out the captured people's animal-like features even from a distance.
