Arcane completely rewired my brain chemistry for these two, and I've spent way too much time sorting through the tag. The most frequent plot has to be the 'Canon-Divergent Fix-It', where the story picks up after the bridge confrontation and tries to steer them away from tragedy. Authors get really inventive with how they mend that fracture—maybe Jayce finally listens, or Viktor's condition forces a desperate collaboration that changes everything. The emotional core is always that yearning for the partnership that was ripped away, layered with so much guilt and regret. It's cathartic, even when it hurts.
Another huge one is the 'Role Swap' or 'AU where they meet differently'. I've seen a ton where Viktor is the affluent, ambitious councilor's son and Jayce is the struggling undercity genius, which flips the power dynamics in fascinating ways. There's also a smaller but potent subset of 'Post-Canon Reconciliation' stories, set years later when they're both deeply entrenched in their opposing roles, wrestling with whether anything of their old connection remains. Those are slower, more introspective, and often painfully good.
