I lost visual as she cut through the backyards, the sheds, and covered pools blocking our view. I slowed the RMP, hoping to see without having to get out.

Finally, I decide on a random level that looks like a tree-filled park. “Oh!” Roman laughs. “Northwind Speedway! I’m really good at this one.” He’s not boasting. Once the game starts, he loops me multiple times, winning every race. Even after he shows me all the buttons and some tricks, I still have no hope of beating him. After my seventh loss in a row, Roman pats me on the back with a proud smile. “It’s okay, Camila,” he says earnestly. “Maybe now that we aren’t going to be moving anymore, you can actually practice and get good enough to beat me.”

Instead, it seemed like they condoned it. "Jazzlene!" I heard Vince call out loudly as I started running away. Vincent drove like a madman through the streets, weaving his way between cars, his heart pounding hard like a cage animal. “How is she?” he asked Rhea, who had Morticia’s body resting on her. Jamie was with them, just as concerned. “Her pulse is slowing, Vince,” Rhea said, panicked. “Fuck,” Vincent cursed, pressing the accelerator harder, speeding dangerously fast. That bitch Dimitri was as good as dead when he got his hands on her. They reached the hospital, and the car screeched to a halt.

He was tiny, which made it easy for him to slip past the adults. Ambrose watched as Vincent disappeared behind a small door. Just as he was about to follow suit, somebody stopped him. "Who are you? Backstage is off limits." Inside, Vincent finally found MAVIS. Something must've happened to MAVIS—there was no battery left, and it sat in the corner of the room like a pile of trash.
