Storms didn't come to Ipsit, Curzon had made that clear. Thunder rumbled outside. Violet went to the window, her footsteps heavy. She feared finding nothing on the other side—that she was tricking herself. She flung the window open. The damp air engulfed her. Clouds hung low in the darkness, reaching into the valley.
