Hated that it still betrayed her after all these years. Vivian Glass stood just beyond the red tape boundary, immaculate and unhurried. Black trousers tailored to cut like a threat, cream silk blouse tucked with surgical precision, oversized sunglasses still shielding her eyes even in the dim, diffused light of the stage. She held a slim tablet under one arm, fingers resting lightly against its surface as though Serena were already a line item in a ledger waiting to be reconciled—profit or loss, asset or liability, keep or discard.

"Were you not here when it was done?" My stomach tightened. "I lost some of my memories," I said, keeping my voice even. "And after everything, I don't know why I am here.” She held my gaze a moment too long. "Oh," she murmured, her voice smooth as oil. "I'm sure you'll regain it soon enough.” I turned away first. "The dining room is through here." The table stretched the full length of the room, dark wood polished to a mirror shine, silverware arranged with the kind of precision that suggested no one had actually eaten here in some time. Vivian moved along the length of it slowly, her fingers trailing the back of a chair.

The long mahogany table on the patio had been beautifully set with fresh flowers, silverware that probably cost more than my rent, and platters of eggs Benedict, fresh fruit, and pastries. Vivian sat at the head like a queen,her lipstick evidently flawless even this early. Laura was beside her, wearing oversized sunglasses that did nothing to hide the red-rimmed eyes and the death glare she shot me the second I appeared. I sat down near the middle of the table then opened my laptop to pull up my notes. Vivian walked in last wearing a black dress that probably cost more than my rent. Her heels clicked loud on the floor, she smiled at Aiden but he did not smile back so she just sat down across from me with her coffee cup in her hand. Aiden started talking about quarterly numbers so I followed along while taking notes. Everything was going fine until Vivian stood up to grab some papers from the side table. She walked right behind my chair so close I could smell her perfume which was too strong.

Cassian “Bring him to me,” I ordered. The guard nodded and stepped out of the room. The dining table was huge, but it suited my taste. Its dark mahogany surface which was almost as smooth as silk always caught my attention. I was seated for dinner and on my right side was my mate, Vivian. She didn’t look pleased as she sat behind her plate. I could tell that something was wrong. “Is there anything wrong with my sweetheart?” I asked softly.

I noticed Vivian wasn't in the room. After getting dressed, I walked out of the room and was greeted by the sight of a lavish dish on the table. I smirked as I neared the table “You're home, darling,” Vivian's voice pierced the silence with a seductive tone.. I spun around to face her. She was in a lingeries and she had her hair flipped to the side of her neck. I noticed the dark shade of makeup under her eyes which made her eyes smokey. My lips thinned as I gazed at her from head to toe, raising an unimpressed eyebrow

“Ah, it turns out that some of the dishes have mushrooms. I will take them out for you." Vivian was stunned. She casually expressed her thoughts on mushrooms, and she didn't even try to examine the food in front of her carefully. So, she didn't even notice there were mushrooms on some plates, but before she could do anything, Steen had already grabbed the plates from the table before walking over to the coffee table in the room and placing the plates on it. Vivian still couldn't react even when Steen had returned to the square table by the window, and it was only when Steen spoke to her again that she finally regained her composure.

“Lily, do you have any idea who you just messed with? That’s the wife of a billionaire chairman! Stealing my sales commission is the least of your problems. When his wife finds out about you, you’re dead, you pathetic homewrecker.” I laughed coldly to myself. I had been right to refuse the company’s request to publicly reveal my relationship with my husband yesterday. Otherwise, I would have missed this clown’s entire performance! Vivian had barely been in the meeting room for a few minutes when she started shouting. “Why are you punishing me?! I was just defending myself! Why aren’t you punishing Lily? in greeting. I sat down at the head of the table, picked up a piece of bread and tore it in half, and then waited. Usually, Adeline would be watching me out of the corner of her eye, waiting for me to say something. But today? Nothing. She just kept writing. Vivian came out a few minutes later. She had changed into a pink dress and she smiled as she sat down right next to me. When she looked up at Adeline, she hissed.

He dumped the things onto the table and yelled, "Aunt Vivian, I'm here to see you again!" Vivian slowly opened her eyes. She looked at Arthur and then at Kisa. Her gaze was not as cold and sharp as it had been yesterday. "Stella, go make some tea," she said to one of the servants. Kisa smiled faintly and sat at the table with Arthur. He was a chatterbox, introducing Vivian to all kinds of stuff. Vivian listened to him calmly. Occasionally, a smile would appear on the corner of her lips.
