Nora settled back against her pillow with a satisfied smile, and I folded my hands in my lap and waited.
Kieran cleared his throat. He began reading in his normal voice, low and even, and for the first page or so, I thought maybe Nora had exaggerated. But then he got to the first line of dialogue, and without any preamble, a deep, rumbling voice came out of him that made me blink in surprise.
“‘Well, little hedgehog,’” he read, “‘if you go out in that storm, I’ll tell your mother, and you won’t get any acorns for a week!’”
