These girls were my responsibility and I was going to make sure they were safe. Hour after hour came and went as I whittled away at a third spear. The light started to grow brighter minute by minute, the birds chirped their early morning song, and some small creatures were beginning to scuttle about again. In all that time, Hope didn't come. With the three finished spears in hand, I started to wake up some of the girls around me. Most woke and rose to their feet, groggy and tired but determined. Several people didn't wake up.

I state and she nods while typing, but as she enters my rank and name a beep sounds. "Captain it looks like there is an active note on your file. Council member Hik has requested a meeting with you," she says and my stomach leaps as I hear the name of the council member who handles retirement. "Is he available," I ask trying to keep my voice even and she nods. "He is. I will beep him. Give me a moment," she replies before pressing another button. "Councilman Hik, Captian Cull from planet Shikaz is here," she states and the clear button flashes green.

We did some cool down stretches while we nervously waited, luckily Eve and Keri came back quickly. "Ok. All your names are on this list. If your name is highlighted in yellow, you're on the cheer squad, if its in blue, you're on the B squad. If your name isn't highlighted at all, you didn't make it this year but we would love to have you try out again next year." Eve explained. Keri taped up the list and they walked into the locker room to change. Finn came down to take a few pictures for the article and then he walked to me. "Why are you just waiting here?" he asked

POV: Alexa I opened the door to the office and saw Marcy our receptionist answering phones. As I walked in she waved her hands indicating she needed to speak to me so I waited for her to put the caller on hold. “Good Morning Alexa. I wanted to let you know that one of your consults cancelled for today so you only have two.” I dreaded slow days and now that there was one less patient on the schedule which meant a slow day indeed. “Thanks Marcy. Which appointment cancelled?” She looked down at her list and explained that the nine a.m. appointment cancelled. I thanked her once more and made my way to my office.

Waiting for the next take. Forever.

Waiting. Preparing. So was I.

Not her. Awaiting orders.
