The Warrior spoke while pressing James' body with his staff to wake him up. “Egghh...” James reacted and muttered there for a moment. There was a small, deep frown on James' forehead now, too. James himself also looked very pale and almost his entire body was covered in sweat. Rage flooded my heart. "Go back from whence you came," I boomed my voice not quite my own. I was commanding a power so pure, it was dangerous but it worked. The hounds erupted into flames the earth opening up momentarily to swallow them. My breath caught in my chest as the wolf shifted into a man and suddenly I was falling but strong arms caught me before I hit the ground. Golden eyes faded into black ones and I stared at the face which was a blur to me. His lips parted to say something but my eyes had closed and sleep washed over me.

Something buried. Something waking up. The threads trembled. And then— They snapped. Violently. Everything rushed back at once. Movement. Sound. Chaos. The warrior dropped his weapon, shaking. The injured wolf hit the ground fully, blood pooling beneath him. Shouts erupted. “He’s down—!” “Get the healer—!” I staggered, the world spinning. Strong arms caught me before I hit the ground. Ronan. “You’re alright,” he said. But I wasn’t.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!” An urgent shout followed immediately. “Warriors! Prepare to defend! We’ve been attacked!” A dangerous light flashed through my eyes. Good. Now they were awake. I slowly lowered my gaze toward my own warriors, who had already stopped at the entrance and were waiting for my command. I opened my mouth, and my cold voice exploded across the battlefield. “Warriors of the North…” A terrifying killing intent burst from my body. “Kill!”

“No, Empty Belly. It's fine.” The warrior quickly intervened before Kael could respond. He walked toward the wardrobe, pulled out a couple of bedsheets, and spread them across the floor. Then, without another word, he lay down and pulled the sheets over himself. I stared at him in disbelief. The warrior was sleeping on the floor while Kael had the entire bed to himself. I slowly turned toward Kael as our eyes met. I subtly gestured toward the warrior before whispering, “What's going on?” A faint smile tugged at Kael's lips.

I give him my best fake smile. “Why don’t you pull up your shirt so we can see your stomach and let’s talk about it,” I say, watching the smirk fall off his face. “Or you,” I say pointing to another warrior, “take off your pants and let’s look at that leg. Or you, let’s see your shoulder, or you,” I say, pointing to the warrior who has multiple wounds, some of them infected. “Take your pick, you have three, back, arm, and thigh. Anyone else want to question my nose?”

Her wolf was ready to shift but, she needed to wake everyone up. Asher and Axel woke up already, she dragged them outside…..they were coming close already. Asher squinted his eyes, and when he carefully observed those that were coming, he mind-linked all the warriors in the pack. “Manga is here, rise!!!!!!" He yelled. They all grabbed their weapons in the storage of the pack. The pack hadn't gotten a lot of weapons but at least, they had quite a number. Asher stared at Annatoria in the eye and when he could no longer find fear in her, they both nodded.

someone yells. Horns blast through the night. Warriors spill out of their tents, grabbing weapons, shifting into action, running. At the forefront, Damian's already transformed into his wolf form, his dark fur blending into the shadows. The rogues crash into our line like a relentless wave. Suddenly, the first injured start arriving before I’m even prepared. A warrior stumbles into the tent, his arm missing below the elbow, blood streaming down his side, soaking the ground. I grab him, pressing my hands to the stump.

End of flashback***** After reminiscing on the worst day of my life I decided to head out to training and work my anger, guilt, and sadness out on my sparring partner. I am quickly progressing and hoping to one day be the Top Female Warrior of the Rising Ashes pack, that is if I don't find my mate and leave this god forsaken pack.
