I would have woken the man up without feeling afraid, but my heart couldn't lie; it was beating fast with anxiety. Beta Lyra stood up tensely even though she swore to me she wasn't nervous. “Hey, wake up!” I shouted loudly. It worked because that's how the wardens or warriors woke him up. "Yes, I'm awake." Warrior Johan sat with both knees on the floor and lowered his head. I took out the red candle that I didn’t like the scent of. My nose didn’t smell it, thanks to this white mask. I got both of those items from the rogue assassins.

ASHINA’S POV The clanging of footsteps shattered the suffocating deadlock. It began as a faint, almost imperceptible rumble, like a distant storm murmuring across the plains. Gradually, it intensified, becoming the steady, deliberate pounding of boots marching in harmony, vibrating through the soil and into our bones. I held my breath while Alpha Knight paused mid-motion, sword suspended in the air, his gaze snapping sharply towards the growing noise. Then, out of the shadows, they appeared. It was the warriors clad in deep midnight blue, their faces adorned with the sacred patterns of my bloodline. Their presence was like a surge of memory brought to life.

Warm. I freeze. Slowly, I crack my eyes open, my breath hitching when I see what—or rather who—I had been using as a pillow. Fuck. The warrior. Not just any warrior. Him. The one from Jack’s pack. The one who, unlike the rest of those bastards, had kind eyes. The one who stopped me from settling the score between those two mates that day. The one who told me not to interfere because Jack hadn’t introduced me as his Luna.

His eyes closed, relief and heartbreak crashing together. “I know,” he breathed. “We’ll fix this. Together.” “No, you won't.” But Rowan’s laughter slithered through the air like knives. “Not if she kills you first.” And the bug rose again, furious, awakened, and ready to obey its true master. I gritted my teeth, fighting the surge. “Not this time,” I whispered. Not anymore. If only I knew what was waiting ahead, maybe I wouldn't have thought that any of this was easy. The three warriors take turns striking the other two, but when one of their fists collides with the youngest warrior's jaw, he is knocked out on impact. Ben takes the man in front of us by the throat before shouting at me to help the other warriors. I take the closest one in my hands as he faces the other warriors, and take the opportunity of surprise to sink my claws into his neck from behind. He falls limp quickly before the skin of his body hardens in a like grey color that cracks like old concrete.

"Gotcha!" Yuka, a level six warrior emperor, stepped forward and unleashed her spiritual energy.

It made the second warrior realise that he must have been drugged recently and might be with a heavier dosage. He left him there and then crawled upto the first warrior who was chained on the opposite side. He tried to wake him up and luckily, he was able to open his eyes. They begin to get flashbacks of what happened with them as they tried to discuss and make sense of what was going on with them.

“I'm so sorry, Finn. I dragged you into this mess. You do not deserve to go like that. I promise that I will avenge you. I swear it.” I swore. Not long after closing my eyes, I heard a movement. If not for my mage training, I doubt if I could have heard it. It was so quiet that one could hardly noticed it. I pretended to still be asleep as I made a mental calculation in my mind. I still had on my warrior's clothes, so my dagger was still there. I carefully reached out to it and waited patiently.

The next thing I remember was waking up to being scratched by a rogue wolf, it didn't aim to kill me, but just injure me. "She is waking up," Bryce stated. "Where is Xylah?" He asked. "She will be here soon," Kai replied. My whole headache was bad and my whole body ached badly, but when I stood up, I saw myself covered in blood. There were all my men lying dead, the men who went missing and my spear was covered in their blood. "Soon Roman will come and he will think you kill them," Kai stated. "And one by one will all the attacks be pinned on you," Bryce added.

A bundle of old leather-bound papers sat behind it, hidden under layers of dust, as fear laced with pain forced my confidence. I took them out with shaking hands and unfolded the topmost page when I met something familiar, my pulse almos growing cold–It was the message on the warrior's back inscribed in the same slashed script.
