“You had to be there, and none of us thought they’d come here. No one saw this coming.”
I glance down at Jaxon again, and something in my chest cracks. I can’t tell if it’s guilt or rage, or maybe both. His body is so still, too still, and I can’t stop my hands from shaking as I reach out and touch his shoulder gently, like I’m afraid he’ll shatter under my fingers.
“Come on, Jax,” I whisper. “Open your eyes. Please.”
He doesn’t move. Not even a twitch.
“We’ve called for an ambulance. They’re five minutes out,” Quinn says. “Security is reviewing footage now, but I doubt the bastards wore anything that shows who they are.”
