Alaric made a decision. He abandoned his current fight and charged straight for the mage and the portal. Fae warriors tried to stop him. One got a magical blast off that seared across his shoulder. Another managed to slash his side with a blade that burned with Fae magic. He didn't stop. He didn't slow. He reached the mage and positioned himself directly between the warrior and the portal, becoming a wall of muscle and fury. "Close it," he snarled.

With a deep, Minotaur roar he surged forward, raising his large axe with the intent of cleaving the Mage nearest him. Zalikhe turned at the sound of his roar. She sent a strong burst of mystical energy at him. It struck him in the chest, and the tall warrior stumbled. She cast a second one and he stopped, tumbling forward in pain, as the axe fell heavily to the ground. He was unable to rise with the pain racing through him. His dark eyes narrowed in frustration as he saw the Mages heading through the doors with their prize. His frustrated roar echoed across the grounds.

He remembered what he came here for—to win. Three warriors, who survived the competition, stood in the middle of the stage. Along with them were three grand knights and one grand mage. One of them was Grand Knight Tera. Arth took a short glance at the grand mage, dressed on a white cloak with a ruby gem on his chest. He already looked old on his wrinkled face and silver hair. Arth’s eyes shifted to the tall warrior… or the thief he could say… who had stolen his cores. The warrior avoided his gaze and glanced around the arena instead. If only Arth’s left arm had not been injured, he could’ve given this damn thief a piece of him.
