The merchant, a grizzled old wolf with missing teeth, eyed Cain warily. "Choose one," Cain said, gesturing. "Something that suits you." I ran my fingers over the pelts, feeling the softness. "You're buying me a fur? How traditional." "I'm buying you armor." He picked up a black pelt, the fur so deep it seemed to swallow light. "When you wear this, the pack will know you're mine.
