BOUND TO THE BLOOD KING
The sound of clinking crystal echoed like distant gunfire.
It happened fast.
The toast had barely ended when a man at the far end of the table, Don Carvelli, the same relic who had once mocked Bianca in Milan, staggered, clutching his throat. His wineglass fell, shattering crimson across the marble.
Gasps. Chaos.
He convulsed once, twice, and then went still eyes wide open, mouth foaming with what looked like blood and ash.
