Thor killed his third attacker and stepped back toward me. “How many?” he asked. I did not answer. Because I was counting differently. Not how many remained. But how many were designed to die. That was when I saw it. On the wrist of one of the fallen wolves, partially exposed beneath torn fabric. A mark. A tattoo. Recognizable. I froze for a fraction of a second longer than I should have. Thor noticed immediately. “What is it?” I knelt slowly, pulling the wrist closer. The symbol was burned into skin with deliberate precision.

She whispered, "You are not Benson. Benson is kind. Benson is human. You are covered in the Watchers marks." The silver symbols on the mans skin began to glow. They moved across his arms like living snakes. He stepped closer. The trees in the park began to turn from green to a metal silver. Maya felt a sob rise in her throat. She looked around the city. People were still waking up. They were. Hugging each other. They did not know what was happening. They thought they were in a place.

“Fine. Rae stays inside the central wards where I can monitor her signature. The four of you coordinate with security and reinforce the perimeter. If the probe changes, I need her close enough to track what it does.” “I can live with that.” Grant’s relief brushed through me, but I let him have it. The red line on Mansfield’s display swept across Ravenwood again. This time, it stopped. Every rune along the outer edge of the projection flared white. Then black. Letters began appearing across the ward map one at a time, burned directly into the magic by something on the other side. My wolf went completely still. Grant stepped beside me. No one spoke as the final letters formed. THERE YOU ARE.

“I think someone already did.” He steps away to speak quietly with the entrance guards, posture alert and controlled. Tessa pulls me to a seat. “Okay. Waiting area. That’s not so bad.” I stare around. It’s almost empty, just two older wolves in plain clothes murmuring together near the far corner, a young guard with his arm in a sling, and a woman reading a report with the kind of focused exhaustion that makes me think she works here. The walls hold framed charts: wolf anatomy, shifting pathways, toxin response timelines. One chart catches my eye:

Except it wasn't empty. A single figure stood near the exit, silhouetted against the weak exterior lighting, waiting with the patient stillness of someone who'd expected them all along. Marcus's radio crackled again, this time with a voice Ryan recognized instantly from the underground corridor, calm, measured, and utterly without mercy. "Going somewhere, Warden?" Griggs said, stepping fully into the light, flanked by two guards Ryan hadn't even seen until they moved. "You really thought I'd leave the one exit nobody's supposed to use unwatched?"

The look in the Alpha's eyes suggested that war was inevitable. *** Raven stood on the wooden wall, watching the Blood Fang group retreat. For some reason, his mind kept flashing back to the messenger's face. Something felt familiar. Suddenly... A gust of wind blew. The man's red robes parted slightly. Under the folds of the cloth... A small, silvery-black symbol was visible. Raven's heart beat faster. That symbol... It's similar. Very similar. To the symbol worn by the black-robed men when they kidnapped Martha. But not the same.

Two guards patrolled the corridor ahead, their voices low but tense. Damien moved like a shadow, taking out the first guard with a swift, silent strike. The second guard barely had time to react before Damien subdued him as well. Elena watched in awe, her heart pounding. She had seen Damien’s ruthlessness before, but never this up close. As they made their way deeper into the warehouse, Damien stopped abruptly, his eyes narrowing at a familiar symbol painted on the wall: a crimson wolf’s head. Elena followed his gaze. “What is it?”
