Robin went to the living room and saw her lying. So he went up to her side and stood right next to hers. “Lucy…..”. “I’m tired to even talk. Robin paused for a moment before replying, “Sure then.” He went back to the kitchen and brought back a glass of water then handed it out to her. “Here.” She sits up and took the glass of water from his hands.

Nothing did. Eventually, the van slowed. Then it stopped. Gravel crunched beneath the tires. Somewhere distant, I could hear water—waves maybe? A lake? I wasn’t sure. It was quiet, too quiet to be anywhere near the city. The back door opened. Robin stood there, silhouetted against the moonlight. He looked calm. Too calm. He had this look like he was about to go on a date instead of dragging a woman into god knows where. “Get out,” he said.

He looked closely at the girl's face, but no matter how hard he tried to recognize her, his vision just got dimmer. "Robin!" she called him again so he was forced to step towards that woman. "Who are you?" he asked but she suddenly turned and walked away from him. "Wait a minute, don't go! don't go!" he repeated so that Wayne stood up and woke him up by tickling his finger. Robin opened his eyes immediately, sweating and panting. His friend again handed him water and a handkerchief, a seat to wipe his sweaty face. "So, there's another girl?" he asked openly when he sat down in his swidel chair.

Whipping his body around the doctor rushed to the woman's side. Robin's eyes flickered behind her closed lids before slowly peeling open. Blinding lights matching the white room greeted her. Flicking between shutting her eyes and opening them to adjust Robin looked over to her side confusion written on her face. "Ugh, wh-" Struggling to speak her throat felt as dry as the desert. Her lips were just as dry as small cracks had formed resembling dry mud. Clearing her throat the nurse quickly poured her a glass of water before handing it over to her. Helping the weakened woman with the liquid, Robin slightly winced at the slight irritation the water brought to the back of her throat.

Robbie did a quick double-check before we jumped from the boat and onto the dock. "You are covered in salt," Robbie said, laughing as he brushed white grains from my cheek. "There's a freshwater bucket over there." He took my hand and guided me toward an old-fashioned water spigot and turned it on. Crystal clear water sloshed out, and I put my hand under the flow. The water was warm, and I smiled. Robbie lifted a bucket and slid it under the spout. Memories of the last time the two of us had rinsed off under a bucket like this flooded my mind. I found myself aching to kiss him.

The dining hall was suffocating under the shouting. Robin didn't get angry. She didn't raise her voice by a single decibel. Looking at the red-faced, screaming family standing before her, Robin let out a clear, melodious laugh. It was a laugh of genuine, effortless pity that cut through their screaming like a diamond blade. "Destined true love?" Robin murmured, shaking her head with cool amusement. "Then I truly hope you keep each other forever. A rotten snake belongs with a filthy rat." Without breaking eye contact, Robin raised her crystal glass to her lips. She took a slow, smooth sip, downing the rich red wine in one flawless swallow.
