Wayward Pines の小説・ストーリー

When my car passed the rundown neighborhood where we used to rent an apartment, I hit the brakes without thinking. For a moment, I could almost see Ruby as she had been when she first started the company. She was crouching on that tiny balcony and smiling up at the stars, saying, "Silas, look. When we finally make it, can we have our wedding on a river cruise on Whitesand River? We'll cover the deck with tens of thousands of roses. All the guests will be dressed up in formal wear, and we'll hire an orchestra so we can dance under the stars." Her eyes were glittering back then. She had wanted to change the world, and she loved me, too.

Chapter Two: SIGHTING Later that night, Rojean dolled up to go to a place that was both a nightclub and a bar that everyone was talking about. She was old enough, for sure, especially if she was going to get married soon. But she was never the kind of person to go out on the weekends, to a club or even a bar and always preferred the comfort of their apartment which Lucas didn’t mind at all even when he wanted to go out. She was in a cream coloured off shoulder dress which stopped mid-thigh and hugged her curves beautifully.

Will you please open the door? I did not reply, which seemingly irritated Zach. "Sydney, I know I was over the line. I shouldn't have locked you in the closet, but I've made up for it by buying you plenty of gifts! Will you please forgive me? Come on, you can't possibly still be mad, can you? Open the door, Sydney." I could hear Zach knocking on the other end of the line. The next moment, he shrieked in horror. "Who the hell are you? Sydney, how can you bring a man home while I'm away? How needy are you?"

Here we go again maybe I should use it, sorry the Montromey Kingdom for using your name this borrowed identity will pay you back in the future. "Stand" I call as I get off in this bunk and approached the window. Blue sky, white clouds, Laffy mountains, a mountain of yaks, birds flying in the sky, grasses and leaves dancing with the wind and the sun is smiling proudly, daylight transmits his encroachment. "Where am I?" I sound out after watching the mesmerizing scenery outside and face them as the wind kisses my skin but I don't feel cold at all. "Evergreen pack of southeast territory" one of the guys with red hair answered. Montromey territory and now southeast territory so what next?

Nothing interesting so far so I switch it off and I decide to practice my shooting. I'm home alone so I have the house all to myself, for once there are only fifty guards outside to make sure everything is calm along with twenty guards inside and the other one-hundred and thirteen guards are out doing some of my unfinished work. Including Oscar, Amelia and Chiara. When I reach the shooting range I type in the passcode and it turns green then the metal door automatically opens, I step in and the lights lit up on their own in rows. I take one of the headsets that are hanging on the wall and one of my favorite guns, an AR-15 style rifle.

My Fer, she is all I have left. I slump back in the seat, trying to see out the darkened windows of the car. Through the windscreen I can make out the mountains of the Wildlands looming black against the gold and magenta of the Wolf Moon sky. On either side of the car, the outlines of forest pines whoosh past in blurs of bristly bark and spiky spruce needles.

"Get us to the tree-line." As the SUV roared to life, Leo looked back at the Miller Tower. It was no longer pulsing red, but it looked broken, a monument to a family that had tried to be gods and ended up as orphans. The Cabin in the Pines: Three hours later, the rain had turned to a thick, mountain mist. The SUV groaned as it climbed the unpaved trail toward the highest peaks of the Silverwood valley. Here, the pines grew so thick they choked out the light of the city below. The scent of damp earth and pine needles was so strong it made Leo’s wolf-half stir, a low, deep rumble in his chest that he hadn't felt since the fight in the Hall.

“Then we’ll make sure we get to.” Outside, the wind picked up. A howl echoed through the pines—far off, but real. And the scent of ash rolled in with the dark.

Aria's POV The drive to Silvercrest took over an hour, but it passed in a focused silence between my partner and me. "Look at the tall pines," I muttered to Maya's hearing as soon as we approached the borders of the pack. "Very beautiful," she replied. "They're oldies but still goldies." I nodded, noting how the shadows of the pines stretched long across the asphalt as the sun climbed toward its late morning peak. The deeper we drove into Silvercrest, the more dazed we were with its natural touch.

She could feel it. **** Pov: Aiden. Meanwhile: Deep Within the Pines Aiden stood over a large map pinned across an old wooden table. Wolves—some in partial shift, some fully clothed—surrounded him in the cabin tucked into the hills beyond Fernmere. He was silent as one of his scouts approached and placed a device in his palm. “She’s rallying them,” the scout said. “Not like Asher—with speeches and power—but like a spark. They’re listening.” Aiden activated the playback.
