The clock was ticking, and we were running out of time. We passed rows of metal shelves stacked with crates, each one labeled with numbers and codes I didn’t recognize. The place was a labyrinth of metal and machinery, and every corner felt like a potential trap. But we kept moving, the team following Marco’s lead, their eyes scanning every dark corner for any signs of trouble.

Because deep down, I knew the truth. Something was very, very wrong. And we were already running out of time.

I had to get my plan going, and it had to be soon. Time was not on our side—it was running out.

As if someone snapped a rubber band, my patience met its end. "Look!" I cried out. "We are on a time limit, and we really need to get to the next state by sundown or at least as close to it as we can. Is it a yes or no?" The silence that answered my shouted question was almost as deafening as the gun shot had been earlier. And just as short.

He trusted my judgement one more time as he agreed to go along with me. At the pace we were running, with our limbs pouncing on the ground violently with every move, we would arrive at the outskirt of the ends of the world before sun down. That was what I hoped, as it would give us a slight advantage about where we were and what we possibly could be up against. We kept up the pace for hours until Alpha Abbadon decided it was time we took a break. We were literally about 3 hours away from the ends of the world but Alpha Abbadon had other ideas.
