Snow jumped off the couch and began barking, signaling that Wendy was home from a weekend trip to her parents. I rose from the e-z boy and met her at the door. I pay for entire buildings with that in a day!” The receptionist’s smirk widened slightly, and the assistant tried to cover his laughter by clearing his throat. “Are you laughing at me?” I demanded, my hands trembling slightly with rage. “No, ma’am,” they both said at the same time, but I didn’t believe a word of it. “I am Vindel Holt!” I said, slamming my hand down on the counter. “My grandfather is the founder of Agro One Apex, the largest agricultural empire in the world! I was thinking too much about the fact that Wendy lied about where she came from. Now I'm thinking she lied about all of her achievements too. Wendy's dream went on for quite a while. In her dream, she saw a little girl about Aster's age. The girl wore a beautiful floral dress and had short, silky, chestnut-colored hair. The girl gazed at her with big eyes and called her "Mommy" sweetly. Wendy was really happy. She hurried over, wanting to hug and kiss the little girl. But just before she could touch the girl, the girl vanished, as if she had never been there before. Wendy went mad. She spun around to find the girl. The surroundings were vast.

Luke's POV After Wendy died, it felt like my heart had been ripped out. I hated myself for not noticing what had been wrong with her back then. I had loathed her for abandoning me, and now, I resented her for leaving me just like that. She didn't even leave me anything to remember her by. The only thing left of our home were the walls. But after quite some effort, I finally found the renovators. I spent a huge sum to buy back all the furniture and have repairs done. I even had the same people come back to redo the walls and floors.

Veronica sighs and grabs the bag. I thought she would throw it out but instead put it deep in the freezer. I give her a questionable look. “Oh, Wendy loves ice cream. I’m quite surprised she didn’t buy gallons. She buys them every month to cry about certain things. Mostly movies. Cries in laughter, of course.” I nod before looking away. Gosh, she’s beyond concerning. I wouldn’t be surprised if she killed someone. She probably scared them to death. Possibly from her driving. Anyone can die from that.
