Zoe snarled. With that, growls erupted from all around us. Marius and his fighters were in a defensive stance facing Zoe. A few other pack members were growling as their gaze flew from me to Zoe and back again. An earth-shaking growl came from behind me, I whipped around to see a giant black wolf with a white crescent moon shaped patch on its chest. The enormous animal was standing at my back but towering over me. It was huge, way bigger than Gunner’s wolf. I could probably walk under its legs without having to crouch down. It wasn’t looking at me though, its black eyes were fixed on Zoe.

Night after night, Black gazed up at the moon, beseeching Selene to lend him the strength to triumph over his foes. Touched by Black's fervent devotion, Selene answered his prayers. She granted him the ability to shift into a wolf, merging his human essence with the spirit of the wild. Black became the first werewolf, a creature of duality, mastering the balance between his human intelligence and the instincts of the wolf.

"All werewolves have mates, so do you!" All of his gestures, actions and words were very gentle but carried a majesty that only Alpha King had. Maybe Alpha King really didn't want to scare me, only he was born with a majesty and his special aura. "I know." I nodded and shook my head again. "All normal werewolves have mates but I'm no ordinary werewolf, my mom, my grandmother are all human. I was born and raised in a human society, my whole family lives as human beings, we fall in love and break up when we're out of love, we get married and maybe divorce."

Alex opened his eyes, even though it was only lit by the light from the moon coming in through my bedroom window I could still see the color of his eyes. "What are they doing?" "Ah ... Werewolves are creatures that need a pack, just like a pack. And sometimes not having a pack can make the werewolf a little frustrated to the point of going crazy, rogues often attack pack members, even injure them. They are dangerous, Cara. Sometimes they even form herd of fellow rogues to attack the pack." Alex yawned as he finished explaining it to me, his face looking very tired. "Oh ... " I replied while yawning, "I have to go to school tomorrow, I guess I should continue my sleep."

The pack members scattered, their faces etched with fear, their eyes wide with horror. In the center of the clearing, a monstrous figure loomed, its dark form shifting and growing. Moonlight cast an eerie glow on the creature, revealing its thick black fur, its piercing yellow eyes, and its gnashing teeth. It was Draven, mid-transformation, his human form battling the wolf within.

Then came the rustling of leaves, the unmistakable sound of footsteps—many of them. “Rogues,” I whispered, my heart racing again, but this time not as fast as the usual times. Kael’s eyes darkened, his grip tightening on the hilt of his dagger. “No. This is something worse and tougher.” The first figure emerged from the trees—a massive wolf, its eyes glowing a sickly green. Its fur was matted with blood, its teeth bared in a snarl. It wasn’t alone. Dozens of them followed at his back, each more firece looking than the last.

“Not for you, but that warlock just got moved to the top of my enemies list.” Nora raised an eyebrow. “You have an enemies list?” He nodded. “If you don’t decide to leave me for the muscled warlock, I might just decide to share it with you one day.” Nora sighed. “You are the most frustrating person alive; I swear.” He grinned. “Remember that I’m not a person, Nora. I’m a werewolf. I have claws and sharp teeth. The better to shred the muscled warlock with when I eat him for dinner.”

However, it wasn’t pure gold; it shimmered with intertwining silver threads, like liquid moonlight coursing through the golden glow. Suddenly, my pup trembled violently, and an ancient, soul-stirring, and terrifying roar echoed. With the awakening complete, a golden paw emerged, sharp claws glinting. Then, a tiny werewolf head peeked out. “Mother!” The voice was small but clear, and two round, bright eyes stared directly at me. I flinched at the sudden call, and Kaeren appeared beside me as well. The little pup stretched, its golden fur patterned with sacred silver markings—the legendary emblem of the Primordial Lycan!

I wasn't the first Vaewolf, and I highly doubted that I would be the last. "What was so bad about being a mixture of two prominent predators?" I murmured curiously, and my wolf Raksha chuckled along with my vampire Morgana. “They lack the vision of its greatness,” Morgana purred in my mind, and I laughed. The Alpha eyed me incredulously as he held the red glowing brand in his fist. “We will see if you continue to laugh after this scorching metal is pressed against your back flesh.” Wincing, I narrowed my eyes as the skin on my back sizzled. Seeing Devan's eyes widen at me, I swallowed hard and then pinched my mouth so I wouldn't scream from the pain.

I whined, picking up a sweatshirt with fragility. "Well... because you didn't listen to the warnings and so you brought this upon yourself. Good luck and try to stay alive." Alpha Gray laughed, closing the door to my escape and the door of the big laundry room. Werewolves sweat and blood smell awful than humans because of the supernatural power they hold. But I will surely be dying over this foul smell. "Oh! Look. It's Clara the troublemaker." The beta entered the room, pushing a big trolley filled with another pile of dirty clothes.
