Leslie groaned awake as Tara and Zak dragged a table across the shattered window and braced it with chairs. “Tom? You can’t be out of bed,” Leslie said, pushing up on her elbows. “Jakey, what’s happening? What are those animals?” “Werewolves,” Jake said, eyes not leaving the hall. “They’re real.” Tara peeled a slat of the front blinds. “They’re everywhere,” she whispered. “Sniffing. Hunting.” Zak joined her, jaw tight. “Can we make the car?” She checked—froze. “They’re ripping the W.R.X. to pieces.”

he got interrupted but he still shaked her hand. " There is nothing to apologize about. Tell me, what's your department?" She asked. " Wolf hunting." The answer came as a shock. " Do people still involve themselves in things like that. Like imagine this is kind of weird, a werewolf. I have to say, I have never seen one before. But I have studied a lot about that and I was surprised that werewolves were not among the earliest extinction. Infact they are just natural selections. So tell me, how many have you hunted?"

Favian had no idea. In any case, having a werewolf born under a new moon was rare enough. Ambrose Fenrir did his best for the last five hundred years, but no wolves were born under the new moon. Even Favian was born on a waxing moon. He wasn’t a powerful wolf, but he was intelligent.

She looks down at our hands, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Maybe he was shocked,” I counter squeezing her fingers gently. “Did you know werewolves have huge families? A news report played, and my heart sank as I watched the footage unfold before my eyes. The scene depicted a crowded mall, chaotic and filled with panic. A man—no, a werewolf—moved with unnatural speed and strength, his eyes wild with an unfamiliar madness. Low, guttural growls rumbled from his throat, a chilling sound that sent a shiver down my spine. People scattered, screams filling the air as the man pounced on unsuspecting shoppers.

“I hate my life!” It wasn't funny, but I laughed out loud. She shot a glance at me and started to laugh as well, taking a seat on the floor in front of me. Beta Bernard asked, “Who's in there with you?” “Dad, meet Narah,” she yelled, “Narah, meet dad.” Even though Beta Bernard and I couldn't see each other, he said hello. Giggling, I replied, “Nice to meet you too.” I was so elated to see Corolla. Werewolves are known to have long lifespans and don't age like humans. Because of that, nobody had aged since I died eighteen years ago.

I insisted. “On what.” “Werewolves,” I blurted out, standing up while staring at him. I did not miss the slight parting of his lips before he masked the surprise with concern. “Werewolves? Are you a fan of one of those werewolf horror movies? To be honest, I do like them a lot too. They’re better than the mushy romances teenagers are always writing about us.” “Us?” “Humans, and also werewolves, demons, angels.”

I asked with narrowed eyes. “Of course!” She replied with a slightly displeased expression on her face. “I know what a werewolf looks like y'know.” She said. “I am sorry if you feel offended by my doubt but being able to transform at the young age of seven is simply unheard of.” I said with a sigh escaping my lips. “That might be true but I knew what happened to me so I am telling you right now, that I did learn how to control my wolf powers at the age of seven.” She said with a confident look.

I was extremely happy when I realized that I didn't have to share a bathroom with my brothers. Soon someone came up and gave us all a tour of the castle, it was basically a giant maze. I could barely remember where my own bedroom was. Though I figured that I'd get use to it over time. When the tour was over they walked us to the great hall, where the Ancient Wolves were. Legend has it that they were the first ever Wolves to walk the Earth and that they have amazing powers bestowed upon them by the Moon Goddess herself.
