Werewolf Sitting By Tree Novels & Stories

My eyes land on a huge black wolf standing by my side! Completely covered in blood and with his eyes locked on me. I try to push myself further up against the tree so I'm sitting and leaning against it when I see the black wolf start to walk closer to where I sit, my head starts to spin and l know I have lost a lot of blood!

The forest came alive around me, heartbeats, breathing patterns, the rustle of creatures moving through underbrush. "Six werewolves, including myself," I began, eyes still closed. "A herd of deer about half a mile east. Water running somewhere to the north, a stream, I think. And..." I hesitated, catching an unfamiliar scent. "Someone else is watching us. From that oak tree at the edge of the clearing."

- Stand with your back to the trunk. Two guys were already bustling around, holding a long chain in their hands. The werewolf felt with all his being that the chain was silver and prepared for a new pain. Cold metal pierced his unprotected skin like red-hot spikes. He gritted his teeth, the guys quickly and very tightly chained him to the tree. Stupidity. The chain won't hold. Even silver.

"In my opinion, it'd be better to go back now and enjoy some wine and meat with those obedient female slaves. Why bother coming to this dark place to hunt wild animals late at night?" Under the tree, four or five werewolves gathered around, sitting or standing, burning torches stuck into the ground, illuminating this small, dim thicket. "Hey, don't say that. Alpha Ron just wants to entertain us better. There are many precious prey in this back mountain hunting ground," a scar-faced werewolf said mysteriously. "What kind?" one werewolf asked.

The others nodded, finding soft patches of leaves to rest their tired bodies on. As I sat on a rock at the edge of our camp, my eyes scanned the darkened woods, searching for the threats I knew were out there. We hadn't encountered any of the savage werewolves Hailey and Gabe had warned us about, but I could feel them watching us. Waiting. "Some water?" Gabe's voice broke through the eerie quiet. He sat across from me against a large tree, its bark twisted like it was in pain, reaching high into the night sky.

Although the four wolves won in numbers, it seemed they were still afraid of the central wolf, so several minutes passed without one rushing to bite the wolf. A growl echoed throughout the forest. The wound in my knee is painful, and my hands are tired from sitting in a crouching position on a tree from bouncing until now. My whole body was cold, but the sweat on my forehead kept pouring out. I just want the wolves to leave quickly because I can't control myself in the tree any longer.

There he is. Sitting under an old oak tree, next to two beautiful, creaky rocking chairs like this is some kind of werewolf retirement brochure. He’s in one, glaring at the horizon like it owes him money. I take the empty one beside him and ease into it, letting the chair squeak under my weight. “What do you want?” he mutters without looking up. Charming. “You’re being kind of harsh, considering you don’t know the full story.” He snorts. “The full story? What do you know about any of this?”

After feasting on the bucks, the pack’s bellies were full and one by one they all stumbled off and found a cool bit of shade to pass out in. Jesse and I strolled off towards our favorite tree. An enormous oak tree with plenty of coverage from the afternoon sun. We shifted and Jesse sat down, resting his back against the tree’s giant trunk. I shifted and settled down on the grass, making sure to snuggle up with my husband. And for the chance to sit down. I slowed down and circled around the edge of the clearing, sniffing every trunk for a sign of the wolves. I smelled the faint scent of red wolf, but the scent was either old or far away. I was safe, for now. I left the trees and headed toward the vehicle.
