I turned to Weston, his face a hard mask, eyes sharp.
He looked about to blow when Miles spoke, defusing the situation, “Our parents are well. They’re spending the holiday in Aspen with some friends.”
Dad was always an observant man, and he saw the signs, but he decided to plow right on through, ignoring Miles. “A little unfair, isn’t it? You’ve met your wife’s parents, but she hasn’t met yours? Kind of shady, if you ask me.”
“Weston doesn’t talk . . .” Miles tried again, but Dad interrupted him.
