Falling for a John
Fatigue attempts to weigh me down, but I remain steadfast.
I hardly blink, lost in a haze of contemplation. Thoughts swirl in my mind, tearing me in different directions. One part of me urges me to ensure everyone's safety, to stand strong and resilient. I remain rooted in place. Another part pleads with me to escape, to dive into the outside world and savor the very air. I almost tilt my head back, shut my eyes, and imagine myself swimming in cold water, feeling the branches of trees whip against my limbs as I run tirelessly until my lungs give out.
The last part of me screams, demanding that I drop to my knees and let out a primal scream. The weight on my chest is suffocating, but I refuse
