Arthur's eyes flashed with anger and a hint of admiration for Matthew's tenacity. "You're a worthy opponent," he whispered, his voice dripping with venom. "But it's over."

The hope that just flickered in his eyes disappeared and was replaced with pain and sadness. I could feel his gaze still fell on me, but I chose to ignore it.
