I paired it with tan sandals and a wide-brimmed straw hat that Alex had insisted on buying for me during one of our strolls. As I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I noticed something I hadn’t seen in a while, a genuine smile. Not forced, not fleeting, but real. It felt good to see it again. I'm beautiful! I smiled and made poses like I was in front of an auto camera. Then an idea struck me, I took pictures of my smile and face lots of them and sent them to Alex. And captioned them “Thank you for making me smile, and giving me genuine happiness, I'm glad that it's you I get to do forever with”

I prodded with a smile. "You do know how to make an old man laugh, Blake. Well, you are the reason I am all smiles. I heard of the new updated benefits you are offering my company. That is the best news I have gotten all month. A man is definitely meant to be super happy once he knows he is benefiting better from his partnership with a business partner. Thank you so much." He said with a grin.

For the first time in a long time, I smile without feeling like I have to earn it. One step at a time.

Of course I grab it immediately and can’t help the smile that comes to my lips. Kids are so damn cute. It only took this to make me feel better.

Eventually, I sent the message, my heart racing a bit. Her response made me smile, "I know what you mean. Our photos can't capture everything." I couldn't agree more. She had a way of understanding beyond words. "True," I replied, "but they do make me smile." She responded with a playful emoji, "I'm glad. What's making you smile the most?" It was a simple question, but it carried a world of emotions. I pondered for a moment, then typed, "The one where we're laughing at that silly joke you made. Your smile is my favorite."
