Ace pulled me behind him while I could see Alpha Kai going to her side instinctively. To think they just recovered from Alpha Elija’s Red Crows the last few days ago. A few of Ace’s men came to him, “Alpha, it’s them…the fowlers.” They confirmed the report. Alpha Ace’s member then whispered something into his ear which made Alpha Ace’s expression turn darker. He instantly grabbed Kai by the neck, “You bastard!” I instantly got in between them, wondering what is happening to Alpha Ace to attack his friend like that. Weren’t they just fine a moment ago?

His azure eyes did not show a hint of doubt. Ace was one of the Gammas that had joined him eight years back. He made an impression by putting himself on the line for a group of pups that were nearly attacked by rogues. It was his heroic act that granted him the chance to be part of Alric’s team of trusted Gammas. Alric had no reason to doubt Ace. His performance was outstanding, and he always volunteered in risky missions, like retrieving convicts that have escaped from prison. After recalling his Gamma’s dedicated service, Alric’s eyes landed on Ace’s silver hair, and was suddenly reminded of something. He asked, “Ace, didn’t you come from the northern borders?”

Ace gaped at Blaze with his bewildered look while Blaze just casually walked out of the room. "Let's have our breakfast" Blaze exclaimed with his back on Ace. Ace stared back at the clothes on the bed and heaved a sigh. He is not into branded clothes and even if he doesn't know the prices, he is so sure that it costs a lot. Ace went out of Blaze's bedroom where he saw Blaze at the dining with their breakfast. Blaze also gaped at Ace who went out wearing the white shirt and jeans that he had prepared. "It felt strange wearing white..." Ace mumbled with his awkward smile while he approached Blaze.

“I wasn’t.” “I am coming,” Ace says with certainty. “This is my fight just as much as it is yours.” “Someone needs to watch over the pack,” I tell him. “Plus, you just found your mate.” My eyes dart to Ace’s neck, and I see a new mark healing on his neck. I can’t take him away from his mate. “I am coming,” Ace grumbles. Lea shows up at Ace’s side with a sheet wrapped around her body. There is a matching mark on her neck. I can’t help but feel a little jealous that they already have marked one another. I should have marked Elizabeth a long time ago.

That was a conversation that happened too late, according to the test. “I have eyes everywhere, girl, despite what my children may think. I thought you would be a passing infatuation, but Ace wants his little pet.” She said as if I was almost a different species than human like I was something less. Yep, I was bug status. “However, you have become a bigger problem. Ace is getting married to Claire McGraw, and she has decided to move in before the wedding.” I shook my head, “that can’t be right. Surely he meant to break things off with her if he was engaged?”

The guys, who were fighting with Ace, left the place as soon as they got the call. Ace was badly beaten and there was no ounce of energy left in him but he tried to lift Edwin up and run to any hospital. Even before Ace tried to lift him, his vision got blurred and he fainted.

I turned to look at one of my warriors when, to my surprise, it was my friend. "Fuck Dane, you came!" We hugged and patted each other's backs. Then Ace appeared. We shook hands and patted each other on the back in a friendly hug. "Of course, we came. We left Fort and Trent taking care of things, and our women are safe at the palace," Ace reassures me as he walks to his friend and hugs him. Ace grew up with Bella's brothers, and his relief at seeing him fine and alive is palpable. "I'm so fucking glad you guys came," Brent exhales.

I looked at Ace in a way to ask if he would let the young men come with us. I knew it was quite dangerous especially a time like now, when the evil mage was all over the place but at the same time if there was any way we could help these young men , it was by letting them stay with us. After much deliberation Ace accepted and the young men joined us in our journey

“So, you won't allow me to become Alpha? But what to do? I have already been crowned,” “That you've been crowned does not mean Crescent pack accepts you,” the elder retorts. Ace hums, nodding his head. “So, you all will revolt against me?” he growls. “If it comes to that…,” the elder said again, but before he could finish his sentence completely, Ace walks behind him at such a fast speed that we all didn't see when he slashed the elder. All we saw was blood gushing out of the elder's throat as he lay unmoving on the floor with his eyes open and Ace's claws covered in blood.

Ace sent me a shy smile "I don't know, I remember everything I guess maybe not the last ten months but I remember before that" I nodded my head and kept on eating. This means Ace does not remember me. Sad. "Who are you?" he asked turning his focus away from the food " I am Annalise. Your mate. Many things happened which is why we do not share the usual mate relationship" I explained summing up our ill fated relationship.
