We we're basically one person so the moon goddess was going to give us a woman for the both of us. One who was beautiful, strong, independent and who we would love and cherish and who would love and cherish us back. One whom we'd spend the rest of eternity with. Loving, caring for, protecting. We anticipated our mate's arrival at our sixteenth birthday, but she never came. We didn't meet her a year after, two years, three years, five years!

He heard the old man grumble as he went back to the kitchen to get Tarrin the chocolate milk in new cup. Once the old butler brought him the to go cup, they said their goodbyes. Walking out into the chilly night air, Tarrin took a deep breath and looked up towards the moon. It wouldn’t be long and the soft hay colored glow would be in full circle while he was locked up for the night. He felt a twinge of longing to see the moon when it was full, Tarrin couldn't remember what it looked like, even if he caught a glimpse after the wolf came out, he still forgets by morning.

At the center stood a well of liquid silver, glowing faintly, pulsing in time with Kael’s heartbeat. “What is this place?” Kael asked, voice low. Oren’s hands trembled as he removed a bone pendant from around his neck. He dropped it into the well. The silver hissed. Then stilled. The chamber dimmed. And the memories awoke. From the walls, the past spoke. “We are the Moonbound.” “We swore not to protect a throne, but a flame.” “And if that flame ever returned in another, reborn, not resurrected, we would fall silent until the world was ready.”
