The wind carries a strange scent, long before the sound of traveling horses reaches us. Ivy and vines grow along every gap, locking us in and the approaching party out.
“He’s coming,” my father groans, glancing at Stacia, Brax’s mom.
“Well of course he is, there was just an explosion of magic in his woods,” She rolls her eyes, turning away from him. “Quickly, Kai. Lay her down in your car before he gets here.”
“Talon?” Brax asks, confusion ringing through his voice. I can’t say I’m surprised, I also don’t understand why the sound of horses says my brother is getting closer, but at this point in our lives, nothing would surprise me.
