Wolf Moon
But when Esme began to train me, the iron would change and chase, a playful, maddening flow like water.
Now it is like a wild wind, a tornado. I raise my head in wonder as it seems to be coming out of the cells of my body, everywhere at once. The iron is no longer separate from me. It is me.
My vision blurs, my ears are filled with a rushing roar sound, I smell sulphur and fire. Wherever I turn my gaze, sparks flare. I watch as the tornado lifts the guards who had surrounded me, flinging them back and pinning them to the walls of the cathedral-- grimacing, writhing, living statues. But when it comes to the children and the babes in arms, the wind is a mild sea breeze that skips around them.
