My heart skipped a beat as I wondered what Logan might want from me again. I dressed up quickly and went to his room. He sat in a chair waiting and only glanced up when I announced my arrival. "Since you've decided to run away, I'll find a better use for you." He said, his voice laced with disgust. "There's an auction happening in three days time at the BlackMoon pack. You're on the list."

“The antidote will need time to work. In that time, you will need rest and you will need food. We camp, Riven. Now.” He ignores me as I stew. I can tell he's not wrong — I feel weaker than usual, and my every breath is strained — but I don't like it. Still, I climb down from my beast and tie its harness around the waist of a tree. The beast paws the dirt before settling to chew on the grass at the base of the tree. Feeling generous, I pull out some sugar cubes and corn and let the beast feed out of my palm before I make my way to Vayrek.

Beau licks his lips and nods without hesitation. “Done.” He doesn't wait around for any additional small-talk. His footsteps move around us and he leaves the tree house.

FENRIC'S POV I shifted the moment I left the breakfast table, bones snapping and reforming as my beast tore free, and launched myself down the corridor at a speed that blurred the world around me. The spiral staircases vanished beneath me in great lunging strides as something feral flooded my veins, burning away anything that wasn’t instinct. I barely registered descending level after level.
